Using the label “racism” is never an answer. It is just a label. It is not a policy. It is just an insult. And if you think that 62,000,000 voted for Trump because they are racists, you should rethink your understanding of the election. For instance, take WI. In the election, it is alleged that 45K more votes were tallied for Senator (won by Ron Johnson) than were cast for President. In other words, a bunch of folks did not want to vote for either.
She never admitted to it - went right for diversion. The whole thing will be aired on CNN on Sunday. I don’t know if I can take that much KAC, but it might be interesting to see how much fight the Dems have in them.
Wrong. You can do both. Although it’s becoming clear why you hate it when people point out racism where they see it.
And a significant reason the Dems lost – and it should always be pointed out, by “lose” we mean "won by 2.5 million votes but lost three key Rust Belt states by the narrowest of margins – is because the racists/bigots/xenophobes were extremely riled up by a candidate that spoke directly to them, and enough other people were willing to accept some racism/bigotry/xenophobia to get what they wanted.
Diversion worthy of Kelly Anne.
Not sure where I said or implied that all 62 M are racists. Do you think that race had nothing whatsoever to do with each of those 62,000,000 votes? I agree that racism used as an insult is not helpful; but I think that trying to understand the effect that race had on the campaign is helpful. I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one
It’s notable that Conway didn’t attempt to refute Palmieri, she just deflected to “how awful of you to call me racist” and attacks on the Clinton campaign.
AH, the wondrous “kafkatrapping” fallacy.
“One very notable pathology is a form of argument that, reduced to essence, runs like this: “Your refusal to acknowledge that you are guilty of {sin, racism, sexism, homophobia, oppression…} confirms that you are guilty of {sin, racism, sexism, homophobia, oppression…}.” I’ve been presented with enough instances of this recently that I’ve decided that it needs a name. I call this general style of argument “kafkatrapping”, and the above the Model A kafkatrap. In this essay, I will show that the kafkatrap is a form of argument that is so fallacious and manipulative that those subjected to it are entitled to reject it based entirely on the form of the argument, without reference to whatever particular sin or thoughtcrime is being alleged. I will also attempt to show that kafkatrapping is so self-destructive to the causes that employ it that change activists should root it out of their own speech and thoughts.”
Kafkatrapping is a fallacy because it is an assumption of guilt.
My position is that the use of the term “racism” is common in people who are too fucking stupid to think of an actual reason. But, hey, throw that poo!! Feels GOOOODD…
As Charlie Pierce puts it - because it is never about race.
Re: throwing poo - you say it like it is a bad thing. I throw chicken poo a few times a week when it is my turn to clean out the coop - it doesn’t feel good, it feels GREAAATTT.
Concern trolls are the worst trolls.
Choosing to support illegal immigrants isn’t a “huge mistake” in any way. It is important for our economy both currently and in the future. It’s realistic – they’re here and they aren’t going to disappear no matter how much Trumpalos hate them. And it just happens to be the right thing to do.
The Dems haven’t stopped helping ordinary people. That’s repeating verbatim from Republican propaganda. Now, if you want to argue that Dems do a crappy job of showing ordinary people how they’re helping them, that’s valid. But I don’t think that’s what you’re arguing.
How was Obama supposed to save more homes, and how did voting for a freaking billionaire slumlord help that?
Obamacare is not a disaster and failure in any way. It’s actually extremely popular and has improved millions of people’s lives.
Moving forward includes confronting bullshit artists like you instead of letting you spread your BS without challenge.
You didn’t imply that, that’s the strawman they always turn to to justify their constant whining about being called racist.
Pointing out logical fallacies isn’t a road you want to go down, Strawman Slayer.
Hey, sometimes it is about race. Racism happens. But not very often.
For instance, lynching was a racist act. But nobody is lynched anymore.
What happened to Phalandro Castile is probably racist. Mike Brown, that was good policing. That 12 YO in Cleveland, possibly/probably racism. Many of the police killing - not racism.
The point of a term is that it should mean something. When it is used for everything, it means nothing. The liberal use of racism has removed the actual meaning from the word, and it is now a fact-free, truth-free ad hominim.
And as to the election, calling 62,000,000 people “deplorables” who have “white privilege” - why, yes, that pissed them off, and yes, it did make them more interested in Trump. People HATE false accusations.
And that is ANOTHER variant of “kafkatrapping”. Congrats. You are a master.
He just really, really doesn’t want people talking about racism, because talking about it makes it worse or makes Dems lose or something?
That would work with someone that is just a sliver of intelligence, but look at the language Kellyanne uses when speaking, it is Palinesque simple minded five year old child speech. The woman is anti intellectual in her personal as well as her professional life. She is not like Rove who merely plays a moron on TV, kellyanne is trailer trash and she’s proud of it, from the unbrushed hair to the utilization of the flood simple snarky phrases she vomits out for each question. I am only waiting for a picture of her in front of her new double wide with a baby in her arms a beer in her hand and a cigarette bouncing in her face as she vomits out another standardized list for a response.
No, conservatives telling each other that racism doesn’t mean anything has removed the meaning of the word among conservatives. It’s their own version of PC. Outside the bubble it’s still considered pretty f’ing horrifying.
Serious question: Who do you think you’re fooling here?
Garbage in. Garbage out. That’s what we have here folks. I’ve never been more embarrassed for my country than now. Trump and Conway are so pathetic. It’s just so awful. Vomit.
2 years to 2018. In 2018, the Dems are going to hit a milestone - they will be under 40 senators in the Senate. That means that the Rs will be able to run the table.
For people like you, who are living in La-la-land where all is good except for those deplorable racist sexists, 2018 is going to be a fucking amazing moment. But your clueless misunderstanding of the electorate is bulletproof.
Gonna be fun to watch the squirming.
“For people like you, who are living in La-la-land,” said the libertarian to somebody else.
“Gonna be fun to watch the squirming,” said the concern troll looking forward to a fascist majority taking over his nation’s government.
You are rather foolishly assuming that Republicans won’t overreach and that there won’t be scandals and disasters over the next two years.
For people like you, who are living in la-la-land, it’s gonna be fun to watch your squirming.
