Discussion for article #231252
How is it possible there are no comments on this story?
Probably because it’s just too horrific and beyond the pale. Every time I check the news the number has gone up. And to attack defenseless children as an act of what they call revenge? No it isn’t revenge. This won’t enlist any civilian Pakistanis to their cause.
Perhaps more of the citizens of Pakistan will be less sympathetic to the Taliban.
How absolutely awful. I cannot imagine 130-some children dead. Sandy Hook was horrendous enough with 20 children dead.
In a phone call to reporters, Taliban spokesman Mohammed Khurasani claimed responsibility for the attack, saying the suicide bombers carried it out to avenge the killings of Taliban members at the hands of Pakistani authorities.
NPR this morning was characterizing the claim as being to avenge the death of Taliban fighters at the hands of the Pakastani government. These children aren’t fighters. Their teachers aren’t fighters. To kill children to avenge armed combatants is despicable and cowardly.
NPR’s commentary wasn’t surprising for they have become cowardly as well.
But wait…Islam is a religion of peace. Right?
