Discussion: Oversight Okays Subpoena To Former White House Security Clearance Official

At one point, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) slammed House Oversight Committee Chair Elijah Cummings (D-MD) for forcing them to come in on a Saturday and for sending a press release about the security clearance issue based on the testimony of one witness.

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” Jordan said, to peals of laughter from the majority side of the aisle.

“Oh please,” Cummings said, interrupting Jordan. “Yeah, you’ve done it.”

Saturday is Gym Jordan’s day to hang out in the men’s dressing room at the local YMCA or watch sweaty mens faux wrestling so this was brutal for him.

He hates missing this kind of action, here’s Gym getting a sniff.

“What’s next? Putting nuclear codes in Instagram DMs?” she asked rhetorically.

Actually Trump has those embossed on souvenir golf balls.

Jordan bitched that the summary that the Dems came up with was insufficient to warrant further investigation and twisted and misrepresented facts on this, but a 4 page summary of a 700 page report encompassing millions of supporting docs is good to go–nothing further needed.

AOC, don’t give the wankers ideas, please! Of course it is an interesting idea to make the alt-right conspiracy crazier: hidden code! Buy your decoder ring at trumpence2020.com!

During the Tuesday committee meeting, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) cited Kushner’s alleged use of encrypted messaging app Whatsapp to communicate with Saudi crown prince Mohammad bin-Salman.

“What’s next? Putting nuclear codes in Instagram DMs?” she asked rhetorically.

Perhaps it was an oversight (pun intended) on the part of the authors, but I don’t see one instance where Cummings used the words “national security”. But on this issue, “national security” should be to Cummings like “9-11” was to Giuliani (every sentence was subject, verb, “9-11”

Only by making this about national security can Cummings get the courts to provide expedited review of any case involving defiance of the subpoena, including claims of executive privilege. So every third and fourth word out of his mouth should be “national security”

Jim Jordan: “Any attempt to hold Trump or Republicans accountable is nothing a political witch hunt! Any criticism is unfair and any media that is not Fox News is partisan and favors liberals! Only Democrats should be investigated, criticized and reported on! How dare you try to play by the same rules as the GOP!”

Me, I’m just relishing the idea of the guy’s reaction in the personnel office who thought petty vindictiveness was the way to go - because he could - and placed those files beyond the reach of the whistleblower. Whut? Me testify under oath in front of a congressional committee? Oh shit.

Was Jordan so worked up that he couldn’t even wear a coat again? (Does he even own a coat?)

Uh, advice to the Dems: Stop asking them to come in, just subpoena them. You’ll save a lot of time.

Who gave Kline a security clearance so he could give other’s security clearances?
It appears Kline gave out clearances like S&H Green Stamps if you bought Trump’s crap.

exactly.

issue the subpoena, and then negotiate whether they can testify without being under subpoena.
