When was it originally aired? Why do so many remember the phrase?
I’d say damned good ideas with hella good writing.

Not sure who I saw refer to Sally Yates’ departure from the DOJ as the “Fred and George Weasley exit strategy,” but I’d urge those who are about to be thrown off the cliff to take her example to heart.
Agreed. I like the idea of attempting to communicate with someone when your languages are more or less incompatible. Hard to imagine how the first Portuguese sailors communicated with the Japanese, e.g. Great reference, in any case. (I saw it fairly recently in reruns, though I watched it a lot when it was first on.) 1991, yeesh.
Thanks for the reminder. St Dymphna and I are on speaking terms again.
Laurence Tribe is demanding impeachment proceedings begin based on obstruction of justice and bribery. If Trump demanded loyalty and no criminal investigation of him or his people in return for an offer that the FBI Director could keep his job, that is bribery pure and simple. And this is without even getting into the Russia stuff. Moreover Trump has confessed to firing Comey because he refused to agree to the “bribe.”
Sorry, TPM, but I don’t believe he wrote that we need an FBI director who is “a political.” I believe he wrote “apolitical” – completely opposite meaning.
ETA: I see it’s been fixed. Thank you.
What a disappointment this article is. The headline blares that Bharara urges public servants to “Say No To The President.” Being a public servant, I checked it out to learn the details: Which public servants is he referring to? When should they say No, on which matters? What will saying No accomplish, specifically?
NONE of these were addressed. The author, Matt Shuham, just quotes those five words and then disconnects from the headline, as he goes off about similarities between now and 2006-2007. Hey Shuham - STICK TO THE SUBJECT!
Meanwhile, across the pond…
It seems to me that Preet Bharara is in a unique and potentially powerful position to speak out against the machinations of Mr. Trump and his minions.
I commend him for what he’s already said and urge him to keep it up!
Everyone agrees, bedtime for Trumpzo!
…but beware the consequences…
“Unprecedented” is the order of the day at orange house. He’s going to nominate Callista Gingrich to be ambassador to the Vatican partly to get Newtie out of the trumPP hair.
I wonder if the Pope will be asked to do some ‘Spayshul dispensatin’’ on Newtie’s behalf…
It’s discreet and diplomatic and in contrast to certain brainless people running the government doesn’t involve fire storms directed at individuals.
This might help:
Glad to see that your depression has become less severe (as judged by the return of random capitalization).
“They” in your comment were Republican politicians. Civil servants largely followed Obama’s lawful orders and directions. While Bharara mentions requisite actions that congress must take, I think it is largely rhetorical and he does not expect Republican politicians to say “no”. He is talking to civil servants. And we know that some of them are standing up to the president, the question is – if sufficiently many will.
I’m pretty sure that both for dramatic and political effect Comey will not sit down with any journalist until after an open congressional hearing. Unless, of course, congress refuses to call him to testify in an open hearing, in which case an extended interview will be the only way for him to tell his side of the story.
I consider that an application for the job of special prosecutor. For my vote he’s the winner.
A guy can wish.
