Discussion: Ossoff, Handel Get Into Highly Charged Debate Over Health Care

Jesus, Handel is a bigger asshole than I thought. The sister sans esophagus bit is a variant of the “No True Scotsman” logical fallacy.

Handel hit back hard, saying that her sister has a pre-existing condition as she was born without an esophagus. She said it was “outrageous” for Ossoff to “suggest that I would do anything that would negatively affect her.”

Any time a Republican feigns offense, you know you have him/her by the short hairs.

So, sounds like Handel was on the defensive, at least on this topic.

He also brought up his opponent’s role in the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s decision to cut off its funding for Planned Parenthood.

Ouch! Ossoff staff did their homework. That is a punch in the face and one Handel deserved. PP is still recovering from her bullshit. Lay it on her kid, lay it on.

Yep

“I will not be lectured by you or anyone else,” she told Ossoff."

Wow…this woman is one nasty piece of work. Doubtful her sister is on Obamacare so her sympathy seeking comment doesn’t mean much. However, that may not register with the voters.

Don’t believe anything that comes out of a Republican’s mouth; everyone knows that.

I am glad to hear you are in a position to help your sister. However the Trumpcare bill you support would leave an estimated 5,999,999 people not related to you unable to get coverage for presxisting conditions.

She’s clearly terrible.

Tangential, but interesting : I was curious about this “born with no esophagus” thing, because of what I know about fetal development.

She prob means Esophageal atresia, when your esophagus doesn’t continue as one uninterrupted tube. Part is missing, or misconnected. It is really common, 1 in 4500 similar to cystic fibrosis.

Cool part: They can now surgical correct the condition with magnets! google it for details, it’s amazing
