Discussion: O'Reilly To Megyn Kelly: You're Buying The Income Inequality 'Fraud' (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #223321

You’re buying into this fraud, Kelly, and I’m very disappointed

Ummmm… she’s an adult, and anyway, though you’re old enough you’re not her dad.

Fox News hosts Megyn Kelly and Bill O’Reilly got into a lively debate…

Stopped reading right there. It’s too early in the morning to surrender another massive chunk of neurons by hearing about some more primate poo-flinging.

I’m guessing Kelly didn’t get the pre-show memo.

Facts are no different than opinions in Fox world, therefore, if you have a set of facts a Fox head doesn’t like, they’re free to disregard them.

Two talking heads, one of which is on the other’s show, is news?

Bingo! One of the many reasons I cannot watch Billo for more than a few seconds is his condescending attitude.

It’s pretty common on FOX. Older, “wiser” men and younger blond associates. It’s a big part of how FOX news appeals to their older viewers.

What a way to bury the lede guys! The best bit of these video is at the end, when Kelly says not everybody has the advantages that she’s had, O’Reilly says “but there are programs to help you with that” and Kelly answers “and we need more of those”.

That’s two leading Fox News anchors endorsing welfare programs, people.

Ok, the issue here is that O’Reilly, probably like most Republicans, thinks “income inequality” means “rich people make more money than poor people.” Well, no shit, of course they do, but that’s not what income inequality is. Only the furthest, furthest left actually thinks we shouldn’t have some people making more money than others, and nobody in this country really takes that fringe seriously anyway. Liberals want a system of progressive taxation so that corporations and the super-wealthy don’t hoard all the GDP, conservatives want a system that’s more like modern-day feudalism.

Sometime common sense is hard to escape from eh,Ms Kelly?

““You can’t get out of this income inequality situation by saying it doesn’t exist and it’s all a fabrication,” Kelly chided him.”

Sure there are people who grew up poor and made it big. LeBron James doesn’t prove that the deck isn’t stacked against the kids of single teen-aged mothers in depressed communities who aren’t enormously talented at basketball. Moreover, O’Reilly, like a stopped clock, is correct that technology is contributing to a growing wealth inequality, which is being seen in virtually every country on Earth. All anyone is asking for is some policies that work to minimize it (or at least don’t work to maximize it), so that the US gets a GINI score closer to Canada and Germany (where there are billionaires and paupers, just like here) than to Russia.

Right. Problem has always existed - just like murder, famine, disease, corruption, war… - so why try to fix any of it?

Billbo: “Fuck it - I was born to a rich family and now I’m rich, what’s the problem? If you weren’t born rich, that’s YOUR problem, not mine.”

Nothing more enlightening than two multimillionaires debating income inequality (and deciding it’s not that bad).

According to O’Reilly: Rich people (like O’Reilly) are not RICH, they are VICTIMS of communist plots to steal THEIR MONEY which is their God-Given RIGHT to keep in it’s entirety.
Taxes are evil machinations of Satan and everyone in Amur’ca would be “wealthy beyond the dreams of avarice” but for the evil BLACK MAN in the WHITE HOUSE (what could be more obvious?!?)
In other words: WHAA, WHAA,(talking point) WHAA, (brain fart), WHAA, (buy my books), WHAAAAAAAAAA.

You can’t expect Kelly to be on her A Game in that place. She’s spending the whole time thinking about how the moment she leaves the room old BillO will be sniffing her chair.

Being stupid and uninformed doesn’t help either.

Oh I dunno. Lots seem to avoid them just fine.

Hey, I can’t be everywhere at once, OK?

Why do people keep expecting miracles from me? = )
