Teenage women,pregnant, unmarried, father of the child is in prison, and I am giving her a ride to the methadone clinic for her daily dose. âŚI see stuff like that every day, all white people. Its generational, its all they know. They donât even think anything is wrong with it. Itâs their idea of normal,very sad

One of the unappreciated things about Caribbean Latino life is that people who are from rural areas sometimes would say:
âYo vengo del monteâ
A approximation of saying that âI come from the mountainâ, alluding to the fact that the Antillles produce very mountainous countrysides. And often people from rural areas migrant to the cities and so forth.
One cannot change their background or upbrining, but as DSWX noted above, FOX and Talk Radio are doing all they can to fan the flames of fear and resentment of certain segments of the population. So, instead of, say, championing a TVA-style endeavor (using government/business partnerships) in which all people can benefit, FOX chooses to foment division and discord, using the seemingly permanent saliency of âblack/whiteâ dichotomous thinking.
OWS should have gone straight to FOX and shut it down. The fact that no one in OWS even actively put forth a POLICY dedicated to neutralizing this monstrosity (which has permanently poisoned a generation and a half of older Americans) was a grievously missed opportunity.

Yeah. Never fails to amaze me how no one seems to notice that rural Appalachia has the exact same social problems as the inner cities along with the exact same short term coping mechanisms that exacerbate long term problems. Particularly the people with the problems.
