After reading it, I have mixed feelings about the case.I think the militia and the Bundys should go home, The Hammonds have always paid their grazing fees. They have also paid an additional $400,000 in fines.They are not Bundys. Before you form an opinion, read The Oregonian story. The article also has some background photos.

I do think that most people in the area are actually sympathetic to the protesters but not how they are doing it. This is basically armed insurrection and should not be tolerated. And really, even the general point made by the townspeople (some), is one sided.
Sure, it is jobs for some people and they lose them with protecting areas, or at least restrict some of them. However, it is not like there are not other issues or no benefit from these sorts of things. It is one reason this sort of thing should be a federal choice and not that of a State. Some states would be happy to burn their forests to the ground if it suited their short term economic needs.

These squatters of prone to violence if threatened, or at least want authorities to believe it. Theyâre heavily armed zealots that the Feds have to consider dangerous if provoked. Bundy may very well like nothing more than another Waco to ignite (he thinks) some sort of cascading series of events that get a lot of Federal agents killed and anit-government forces united to become more aggressive.These guys want to be the John Browns of the fall of the government, to be written about in future textbooks as provoking the start of a new form of Federal-State relationship.
The Feds can block food and supplies from entering, cut off water and utilities, eventually forcing the occupiers to relent and leave. They could possibly assign a value to damages for lost access to the land and place liens on the occupierâs property, eventually siezing it to satisfy the damage claims. The cost of law enforcement monitoring and patrolling the situation could also be assessed. The last action the Feds want to take involves weapons and forcefully arresting these people.

Iâm in favor of law enforcement just flat out killing these terrorists. Taking up arms directly against the government needs to be fatal. They are directly threatening lives. They should be fair game unless they immediately surrender their arms.

And their religion. Here is a simple guide.
Armed people take over a government building âto restore orderâ and threaten a bloodbath if the authorities react against them. These people are
- White = protesters with peaceful intentions (asserting their First, Second and Tenth Amendment rights), if perhaps not the proper means.
- A single white person = an isolated case.
- Black = playing the race card and disturbing the peace.
- Muslim = jihadist terrorists.
- Immigrated Muslims = foreign jihadist terrorists, allowed into the country by the Muslim in the White House. Immigration laws are too lax.
- Hispanic = illegal immigrants and/or drug cartels. Immigrations laws are too lax and we need a bigger wall at the Mexican border.
- Left wingers = un-American nuts.
That should cover most cases.

Letâs not get overly dogmatic, eh? Were the students occupying University buildings during Viet Nam terrorists? How about the Occupy Now people⌠terrorists?
What they are doing is illegal⌠it seems to me the best solution is to have an open debate over use of Fed Lands and invite them to it. If they wonât go, it shows they donât have a leg to stand on.

Iâm not against killing the terrorists so much as mindful that federal agents and local deputies have families to go home to, and shouldnât have their lives risked unnecessarily by poor command decisions.
I donât grasp why the government is allowing reporters in or out. The solution is obvious. Declare the whole area closed and off limits. Cut the electricity. Cancel any and all cable, telephone, internet and/or satellite TV services. Turn off the cell towers. Turn away everyone who tries to enter and arrest everyone who tries to leave. Let the terrorists sit there in total isolation until their generator runs out of fuel. If the terrorists choose to open fire, shoot out their engine blocks and wait some more.

March through the streets demanding reformed policing policies as relates to the black population: Get tear gassed, thumped with batons, rounded up and some made examples of through arrest and jailing.
March onto Federal property, announce youâve seized it, and anyone that doesnât like it can go to hell: Get left alone for the most part.
