Say what? They “strategically spread around the room”. Were they planning on taking hostages? Is this how wingnuts act when among those they think are friendly to them? How do they act when in a hostile crowd? Stand their ground and start shooting?
Fine. I understand they are living out a fantasy. But it sounds like they are getting dangerously detached from reality.

What were the feds supposed to be doing? Going in for a big shootout with a bunch of crazies? That guy with the shotgun across his lap said he’d use it on anyone trying to arrest him (the idiot under the blue tarp). Why doesn’t the governor send out her state troopers and put them at risk of being massacred by these horrors.
As it is, everyone is turning against them, dramatically so. They won’t be getting the Bundy is a hero treatment any time soon.

Ummmmm, if the Governor is so concerned, couldn’t she call out her own National Guard and deploy them “nearby” to protect the State’s property and interests??

The Federal strategy here mystifies me. This is not like Waco, TX. There are no innocents in the refuge at this point. I understand they don’t want a violent confrontation, but at what point should they close off all the roads and starve these little f#ckfaces out? Or, does the government just cede federal property to armed militias?

Not exactly true. Some of the “heroes” have brought their wives in. After all, real men don’t cook and clean. And they brought their children with them.

That’s a great question. The National Guard is always mobilized to quell civil unrest, protect property and provide relief in times of natural disasters. Hell, there’s two out of 3; although judging by the mentality of the Cowliphate it could be successfully argued to be a trifecta.

Is State law enforcement THAT powerless to take charge of the situation? I would think they would at least have SOME options (like closing roads if the they are state roads or cutting power). I think the Feds have waited long enough. Tough action at this point wont make them martyrs…people already think they are deranged.
As a guess, I’d say that she wants the Feds to do the dirty work and force Y’all Qaida off the property themselves. She’s a Dem and she probably wants to be reelected. That way, she might be able to savage some of the “militia” vote.

Patience is a virtue. That’s why they should cut the utilities, set up a blockade, etc. Geez, these guys would suffocate without the constant media attention. Oh, and freeze and starve and …
Plus, we could find out once and for all: If a 55-gallon drum of “passion” lube freezes will it explode? I’m sure it wouldn’t but the visuals are pretty great.

I have to agree with Gov Brown. It’s time to pay the piper. These scofflaws have been making a mockery of the law, running around committing crimes with impunity. They’re acting like common white-collar criminals, which is above their station. To allow them to continue without consequences sets a bad precedent.

Exactly… The local Sheriff could form a posee and go and arrest those bums, the governor can send in the National Guard and get the job done even quicker. But then the Sheriff or the Governor would have to pay the price in wingnut votes. Better have Obama do it, he is not running for anything.

I disagree, Mondfledermaus. It would be better for the Sheriff, State Police, etc. to do it. All she’d need do to justify it is state the obvious: This is what the residents of Harney County are demanding. Which, by the way, is true.
Moreover, I think both sides of the political spectrum would applaud her resolve. For different reasons, perhaps, but applaud her nonetheless.

Blatant physical violence is unnecessary to defeat your enemy. Passive aggressive techniques, many of which are known as “torture”, are best: leave no bruises (only deranges your mind); you still look OK but are being ripped apart inside. No one then believes a word you say because you look fine. Those are torture victims of passive aggressive techniques. Here, loud music / bright lites full time; bring in the feed lot huge piles of shit and surround them (bad idea, we’d all have to leave), but you know what I mean. Just plain sleep deprivation is under valued unless you are a trained torturer, or have been tortured with that technique. That will kill you eventually, and you live in hell until you die, when not allowed to sleep. As in Guantanamo Bay style. So easy, just do it.
