Discussion: Oops! Trump Cites Video Debunking 9/11 Cheering Claim As Proof That He Was Right

Doctor Goebbels would be so proud. Tell the lie. Tell it over and over. Ignore or debase anyone who says otherwise. Tell the lie again. Keep telling it and soon not only will be become true, but people will flock to your side because those debunking your words are somehow abusing you. Play the victim and tell the lie.

Debbie Schlussel? THAT loony bigot is still around? I’m surprised she’s not working on Trump’s campaign.

Not after he saw what happened to Rick Perry…

Some sound engineers made an interesting discovery while goofing around. They found that if you play the audio of a Trump campaign speech backward, and slow the speed about 8%, you can hear Trump making a true statement.

They checked, and there is one in every speech. I want to borrow their equipment and start winning bets from my liberal friends.

Bingo. If there was any real evidence at the time of thousands of American Muslims in New Jersey cheering the 9/11 attacks there would have been an orgy of vigilante violence, and then perhaps martial law being imposed after the fact.

Even if somehow, by some miracle, a widespread violent backlash did not take place, it would still have been one of the top stories of the whole period, up there with the anthrax letters and just short of the 9/11 attacks themselves.

But Trump points to a few flimsy rumors that, even if true, wouldn’t prove his claim of “thousands” participating in pro- 9/11 celebrations. Because of course he does.

None of Trump’s lies or “mistakes” will make one iota of difference to his true believers. The GOP created this Frankenstein, and now he’s out of control. Trump will embarrass them for some time to come and will soon start accumulating delegates. Good luck to them with managing their creation now. “For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind.”

There are cases where large groups of people gather to view a tragedy and applaud. Adam Sandler built a career on the phenomenon.

Y’know, I hadn’t thought about it, but you’re totally right. I was in northern NJ that day and if anyone started cheering they would have been pounded into the pavement.

Sliwa wrote that the video actually came from “the West Bank of Palestine, not the East Bank of the Hudson River!

Actually Jersey is the west bank (of the Hudson). But by the transitive property Trump claims he’s still right.

How can Trump be so dumb? He says he is a Presbyterian but no Presbyterian church has a record of his membership or attendance. He says he is a member of Riverside Church in NYC but that is not a Presbyterian Church and he never attends there. So too with the thousands of Muslims cheering 9/11. There is no evidence of that except in Trump’s head. Will Republicans make an outright liar their candidate?

Yup. They would’ve been treated like Eagles fans.

Which is better than what an Eagles fan would do to you.

Never mind Flyers fans.

Coz “Due Diligence” from a businessman is silly. Thus explains the 4 bankruptcies.

But speaking of “cheering” deaths; what happened and by whom when the only nation in human history dropped nukes on men, women and children as a “terrorist tactic”?

I mean, c’mon, does anyone remember Ward Churchill? Four years after the fact, an essay surfaces where he called 9/11 “chickens coming home to roost” and the people who worked in the WTC “little Eichmanns” and he gets death threats and is subjected to investigation that uncovers “academic misconduct” that loses him his teaching gig.

Not shedding any tears for the guy. He’s an asshole. But the national rage a formerly obscure academic provoked even four years later is kind of the tell here. We were all practically daring people to go ahead and make our day before Bush and Cheney and Rove so utterly defiled the memory that it lost its emotional resonance for far too many of us.

The GOP is the party of the dark ages. Once you stop caring about facts then you are guaranteed to fail. Not in politics, sadly, but certainly in policy.

And Trump has the audacity to call others incompetent? What a complete and total jackass!

Now, now, I wasn’t questioning you violent proclivities, this just took place (supposedly) in Jersey, so they get honor of place in this anecdote.

Sane Christian - now there’s an oxymoron…
