Okay, we all agree … ??

Hey Martin, your positions are admirable, your polling is miniscule and your debate tactics reflect your angst.
Do all of us a favor and shut the fuck up.

Yes, I strongly disliked his feeble personal attacks on Clinton, and he seemed stiff and over-rehearsed compared to both Clinton and Sanders. He’s not adding much to defining the Democratic positions.

Like I keep saying…the guy is a stand up Democrat, I think most Democrats have no problem with his stance on issues (Hell, he is probably the greenest candidate up there on environment).

But he just gets zero traction. Its puzzled me all campaign.

Except that he was 100% correct. It’s someone else who should shut up, and he has orange hair and a big mouth.

Truth is, O’Malley is the most presidential of the three. Sanders is closer to my heart, but he’s too far left for the country, and Slick Hilly is, well, Slick Hilly.

Why he’s not higher in the poles is a mystery to me.

Why should he? So we can have an even more closed debate than it already is??

Maybe /you/ should shut the fuck up.

I suspect that if Sanders hadn’t jumped in, he might be closer in polling to Clinton. I said, might. In the beginning of the race, he was my first choice. Even without the baggage of Baltimore which I don’t heap on his shoulders anymore than any other Governor. It’s just that, to me, he comes off as being kinda shallow and pandering. Something about him comes through as wanting to say whatever it is that will get him elected. Not saying that he’s not saying the right things; it’s just the sincerity factor that’s missing for me.

I wouldn’t be averse to having him as the VP pick.

Its not just what he says, however…he has the resume and track record to back it up. He has the strongest executive experience on the stage and a pretty darn good record for what he has done in Maryland. He doesn’t just say he will fight the good fights…he actually has.

Sure, he would be fine as a VP, and still a solid candidate in 2024. But Castro is a much better choice for both of those positions. Geographically. demographically and political stances…O’Malley just doesn’t bring that much to the table. Unless Hillary (or Sanders, who has been equally as quiet about the environment) takes a sudden turn to green policies as a major plank…I just don’t see the value.

I’m not against Castro at all. But, I’m not convinced he can bring in the Hispanic or a sizable Texas vote. Granted, a ticket would lean Clinton/O’Malley heavily on the Northeast corridor (I’m lumping in Maryland in that). I’ve heard some speak of Castro’s lack of experience which, I personally, don’t think of as a factor for VP.

I guess I’m trying to say that I’m not sure that Castro can bring to the ticket what a lot people think he can deliver. I don’t know.

He was a Democratic mayor of a major city in a very republican state. He is now Sec. of HUD. He is definitely being groomed by the party.

Sure, HUD isn’t State or Defense. But it IS a cabinet post, and it gets him inside to see how the White House works. And he has done an admirable job there. So I think he is fine on the experience front to be Hillary’s VP. Its not like she is lacking in experience, after all.

Possibly. But can you think of any other candidate that would better reach the Hispanic vote for Democrats right now? He is young, charismatic, and has a solid ally in his brother (Joquain is in the House). And perhaps even more importantly…he would be perfectly poised to run in 2024 as VP. And that is really the year he should be running for President. (Though I still do think he should have run this year. It was a no brainer in my opinion…there was literally no downside. It would have boosted his national exposure, got him some experience on running a national campaign, driven out Hispanics even more, and increased his standing as a VP candidate. And that’s all if he ran and lost.)

Agreed that he should be. He can’t go further if he isn’t given the exposure. And it’s not like the Dems have great bench nationally to choose from. I just think that 2020, at the earliest, is his best chance. I MHO.

2020 isn’t viable if Hillary wins, obviously. 2024 is the year to shoot for.

Appreciate your loyalty.
Think I’ll stick with both my views and my comments.
