Aw fuck. I suggest buying stock in whomever makes fainting couches. Quick!
I like O’Malley, too. I’m with you on supporting him for POTUS over HRC. But, in reality, he’s not going to win the nomination. In this instance, especially on the national level, i’m putting the party first, and that means supporting the best candiate who has a chance to win. In 2016, that’s Hillary. On an HRC wager thread, i staunchly urged her not to run. I do not see her as one of us, but i do see her as a far better alternative to ANY Republican that wants to try to be the next POTUS. O’Malley is one of us, as is Warren. Hillary departed the real world when she first became FLOTUS. However, she will be the next Democratic Nominee for POTUS, and there’s nothing you nor i can do about that. Sorry to say, but that’s reality.
How WILL getting too many votes hurt Democrats while strengthening the Republicans?
Only Kapur can tell you for sure.
I already did. I liked him tremendously as my governor for 8 years.
I live in MD. Hogan ran on taxes. Period. He promised he would lower taxes—never said how or what he would cut. He is a one-termer. Brown was a weak candidate and got burned by flubbing up the MD health care exchange (badly). Every once in a while MD elects an R for Gov but always keeps the statehouse in blue.
O’Malley is growing on me. Still, I have a hard time getting behind a man who openly admits that he hates The Wire. That’s sacrilegious.
At the very least, he seems like he’s willing to call these hateful Republicans out on their BS, which is always welcomed with me.
It’s so refreshing to hear his voice in the popularity contest that is also known as the presidential election. And, after what we’ve had to endure from the right-wing for the past 7 years, O’Malley’s quote qualifies as polite rhetoric, as far as I’m concerned.
And this is why I’d like to see some top tier Dems jump in the trenches in this campaign, not to win as I don’t think anyone else but Hillary could win the primary or the general. But to expose future potential candidates to the intense heat and light of a top campaign both to give them experience and to turn up the possible hidden negatives before they get into the real thing. I exempt Warren from this, as it’s so vital IMO to keep her right where she is, as she seems to be doing stuff that no one else has been able to do, and also is a great positive foil for Hillary.
