“I thought there were no Ebola cases in the United States.”

There weren’t until they medivacced this critically ill hero in to attempt to save his life. That is what decent countries do for their fellow citizens.

Now that he has died, there aren’t any more again.

He likely contracted Ebola outside of his practice in Sierra Leone. Medicins sans Frontiers says that is how almost of the 20 or so of their people who have become infected got exposed.

They’ve gotten pretty good at containing the disease with the proper precautions, but clinics aren’t the main place Ebola is contracted.

Except for Texas hospitals with clueless administrations, that is.
