It didn’t help the Confederate flag supporters that the last two pro-flag protests on the Ole Miss campus were organized by a Klan chapter based in Arkansas, carrying signs that included, “Black Lives Don’t Matter.”

And Heritage! racism takes another hit…
The Smithsonian magazine just published a story on the transfer of over a million slaves from Virginia to Mississippi to work in much more difficult conditions in the years prior to the Civil War. Of particular note was the fact that this was the transaction that broke up families at the slave auction markets in the Deep South.

“Republican, Gov. Phil Bryant, said he wouldn’t call a special session this year to debate it, saying it’s a matter for Mississippians themselves to decide in another statewide election.” Now THAT’S what I’d call leadership. Mississippi Republican voters should be very proud.
