“Facts surrounding the case lead agents to believe the man was unaware it was officers who made entry,” Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said in a news release, according to the Oklahoman.

…“Don’t know what he heard or didn’t hear screaming from five officers of the law announcing our presence, requesting to see hands,” Ross said.

Young black males, on the other hand, are well known to have almost super-human hearing and the ability to recognize, process, and react to spoken language extremely rapidly.

It’s ok that the police chief got shot, since he’s black and it’s the only way they learn. Next time you go to arrest a white man, put down your weapon, knock, and ask them politely to come out. Otherwise, you’ll get what you deserve, boy.

Seriously though, at what point do we get to declare this all a complete farce and finally do something about it?

It’s ok if you’re a gun nut, I guess. In Oklahoma, anyway.

He thought the police chief was one of them thar niggras or wetbacks come to steal his stuff, so it was okay. In fact, the police chief apologized for dragging him all the way to town. They would have settled this right thar in the white man’s home.

Kind of reminds me of a All in the family episode when the meathead when retelling a problem Archie had with the plumbers assistant(Ron Glass) has Archie telling the assistant " You don’t touch a Whiteman’s cloths when a white man’s in them"

I don’t understand you guys sometimes. The police broke into the wrong home and then the chief busts into his bedroom. I would have shot the guy. Also, Having survivalist plastered in the headline is a form of bias and meant to frame the guy as a nut.

He’d be dead or facing a very long jail sentence right now if he were black. Utterly ridiculous.

The cops did break into someone’s house, but the key is that we do not know if it was the wrong house or not. You’re making a serious assumption there. That being said, when in the HELL did you hear of someone shooting a cop 4 times and being released after questioning? This case is highly…attention-worthy, to say the least. That’s why people are so up in arms about it.

Are our police getting more stupid every day or not?

They supposedly announced that they were police, and busted in because they had evidence that a bomb threat had been made from that house. This is pretty standard police behavior, and I’m not sure what the alternative is. And this is in contrast to all the times they do it for drug busts, which don’t require the police to bust in guns ablazing but they do anyway. But bomb threats are a different issue, since anyone trying to blow stuff up is likely to start firing at cops first if they announce that they’re there.

And really, this all just goes to show why you shouldn’t have guns. Because you’re far more likely to shoot an innocent person than someone trying to hurt you. Even burglars rarely want to hurt the home owners, which is why they’re burglars and not hitmen or bodyguards. When they rob you, they don’t want you to even know they’re there. That’s why the safest option is to not have guns at all, so you don’t kill cops if they bust into your house, and they won’t kill you.

Sentinal is very small town (population 900) about 30 miles from where I live. I go through there occasionally when I want to take the scenic route to my mother’s house.

Not trying to defend the guy who’s house was broken into but don’t you need a warrant? Sounds like the police may have screwed up the raid and made up some story about the 911 call to begin with.

Police later said that the 911 call did not come from the home they raided, according to Oklahoma television station News 9.

Its easily checked out later, as those records often are public information regarding an arrest. So now you got some nut running around free that might’ve been up to no good. Hard to say…at least from this article.

You’d think the police would know all the addresses and probably most of the residents in the area with it being so small a town.

I don’t understand you guys sometimes. The police broke into the wrong home
That is still to be determined. The reports seem to indicate that the call was traced to Dallas Horton, and that it was his name that led police to the address. He also was awake and on social media before and after the 4:00 am call making the bomb threat.

Police said they determined that the call did not come from any of the phones found in the home or on the occupants. It doesn’t add up yet, indicating that there is either an error or some evidence yet to be discovered or revealed.

and then the chief busts into his bedroom.
The reports say that the police had already cleared a bedroom, so there had to be a certain amount of time and police shouting between the initial entrance into the home and entry into the second bedroom.

You say it frames him as a nut. I say it frames him as a person who is going to have firearms at the ready and who has spent some time thinking about armed defense of his home. That is relevant information. I do think that a lot of survivalists are nuts, and the label can be misused, but there are times when it is relevant. If a survivalist was found dead of starvation in a home full of stored food, for example, the “survivalist” label is essential to the story. If a survivalist was arrested for DWI, it would not be, unless the vehicle was packed full of weapons and ammunition.

The police still need a warrant, even if it’s a no knock warrant, though there is plenty of controversy around the issuance of that type of warrant.
