Discussion for article #233380
Odds are she could ask State Rep. Dan Fisher Ā® to specify what needed to be changed - and the pandering tool Fisher would be unable to articulate any concrete actions - he would just regurgitate propaganda.
āIn essence, we have a new emphasis on what is bad about America,ā
Teatroll Rosetta Stone: āIn essence we have a focus on critical thinking and admitting where Amurika has made mistakes we should never repeat, instead of extolling Amurikaās divine right to do whatever it wants, when it wants, how it wants and to kill anyone who stands in the way of our whims, not to mention our manifest destiny as the rightful whiteful Krischun Nashun rulers of the planet.ā
I would not be surprised if sheās just looking to have a meeting with him for precisely that purpose: so he can coach her in what to say.
Doesnāt the GOP know that a high skilled workers value education?
They can try to attract jobs with low taxes, but you arenāt going to attract workers if the schools are terrible.
ā(The new framework) trades an emphasis on Americaās founding principles of Constitutional government in favor of robust analyses of gender and racial oppression and class ethnicity and the lives of marginalized people, where the emphasis on instruction is of America as a nation of oppressors and exploiters.ā
I think this is where the phrase āIf the shoe fitsā¦ā would normally be applied.
Fisher is trying to make sure that Oklahoma students never learn the actual history of the USāhe wants them to lean only the sanitized white men only version which coincidentally supports the warped and dangerous Republican view of America.
Of course the legislator will have to come out of his cave to meet with her.
Transcript of the meeting:
Fisher: āWoman, why arenāt you home taking care of your husband?ā
Hofmeister: āFisher? Aināt that a Jewish name?ā
Fisher delivers a backhand slap to Hofmeister, sending her to the floor, and his security staff locks down Hofmeisterās. He shouts āIāll have your resignation in the morningā as he leaves the room.
the problem is they want to sanitize their version of history ā¦you cant learn from that stanceā¦if you want to learn about history it has to be the good ,the bad ,and the uglyā¦warts and all if you cant handel that we have done some crappy stuff then you shouldnt be in school or running a school board or being in a position to affect the teaching of history in the first place
Deep breath ā¦ OK ā¦ now remember ā¦ This is all about an āAPā class ā¦ yeah, as in āAdvanced Placementā - you know, a class that is typically even a step up from āHonorsā and requires a pretty strong record of academic performance for entry ā¦ and with that usually comes a pretty aggressive level of intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and analysis ā¦so do they really think that by manipulating the content of the course, they will prevent the exploration of the warts and blemishes in the history of the US - do these conservative imbeciles think that these intellectually empowered young minds will stick to the scripted sunshine and rainbows āhappy talkā version of US History - and not engage in any objective assessment of the achievement AND the failures? Ha!
Yehā¦
The OK history would have chapters on how bad it was for the Cherokee, Osage, Pawnee, et al in their original surroundings. How much better it was for the Native Americans, who had read all the brochures offered by OK RealEstate agents and were just dying to get to OOOOOOOOOOklaHoma to raise their children.
History as rewritten by BilloReally?, Dave Barton, and GhostWriters in the Ether.
dang. you beat me to it. but iām running a little late this morning.
This is from the same bunch who were cheering on the guy that said education doesnāt need funding since Aristotle just sat on a rock and taught. Canāt wait til they are rolling out the rocks for teachers to teach from. And then the rest of the Tea-christofascists would like to control the future Aristotles, prevent them from actually teaching any truths -right? Soon logic would be illegal to teach as it might lead to independent thought. And that would lead to thought crimes.
This is a state that has inadequately allocated public resources to deal with climate disruption or even take adequate mitigation measures. As I recall, when the Moore 2013 tornado ripped through 2 elementary schools, killing 24, the EF5 was not the first in the area. Yet, nothing had been done to ready the schools for stronger tornadoes. Only last year, and with federal prodding, did Moore adopt appropriate building standards. I expect the same plot here. Conservatives will fight for the freedom to have an edited version of US history without warts or mention of bad behavior on the part of white Christian ancestors.
Itās Oklahoma. This is pretty much guaranteed.
Now isnāt this just textbook fascism. āHow dare they use factual information in a history course?ā I seriously hate living with all these idiots.
Iāll show Herr Fisher what oppression looks like.
Whatās next? They gonna ban ā12 Years A Slaveā from school property?
The super better watch out Fisher is one smart Iowan, got a degree in Poki-Man from DeVry!
