A good start. Now take this initiative to other states. Don’t rely on the Federal Courts. Make this grass roots.
Huh, people want to live in a competitive district where their voice matters and their representative gives a crap about their compact, sensible region.
Who knew?
YES. This is how you do self-government. We may slowly relearn it, like stroke victims. But your vote has to matter, to start with.
And yet, there are the 25%, who comprise more than 50% of Republicans and insist they should rule us all.
Best news of the day.
Good for them …
Colorado also found broad agreement on this and it sailed through the legislature —
I think we’re on our way —
So it would not be unlikely to assume that of the 25% who voted against reform about 98% of those are knuckle-dragging Trump supporters.
Good on Ohio for supporting this measure by such a large margin!
Good news…
Anyone care to lay odds that some Rs voted for it believing that the state had been gerrymandered to elect Ds? I’ll put the over-under on this at 20% of the R’s electorate…
So when does it take effect?
usually about 5-10 minutes after your first toke…
Come on up here to 5280 ft . … or higher —
see what happens —
With that large of a vote, many Republicans voted for it.
What does that say about how Republicans feel about their choices?
Sadly not until 2021 and all the younger Democrats have moved out of state.
Thank you
No. Don’t take this initiative – take a better initiative. Politicians are still too heavily involved in our process. As far as I’m concerned, politicians should at most be granted an approval vote of the product of a commission that is as apolitical as possible. I’d give the pols one bite at that apple – their choice would to be to approve the map for ten years or send it back to the commission. If they send it back to the commission, the commission’s second map is automatically adopted for a period. The Commission would then re-evaluate in a few years and the pols again get an up-or-down vote, with the Commission’s second map (if one is required) being adopted for the remainder of the decade.
Everyone has at least one asshole. Some people (maybe 25% or so) have more than one…
Also, how does it take effect.
In Ohio at least, the devilry is in the FreeDumbers.
Not after November!
