Are we sure that wasnât satire? Did the frat boys genuinely and unironically look that childish?
Havenât been around a lot of frat boys lately?
Ohio University Greek Events Canceled After Members Write Pro-Trump Graffiti
Interesting. While one assumes that most Greeks come from monied and likely conservative backgrounds, historically itâs been from country club Republican families. If they are serious about this, the Greek system is worse off than I imagined.
Of all the groups on a college campus, Frat Bros are pretty much the ones I would suspect of being into Trumpâs shtick.
Names. We want names.
Von Clownstickâs young supporters are TERRIFIED people will know who they are.
Why donât they just paint the word âFuckâ in front of the T-word and call it a day?
Canceling activities seems like an unnecessary response to me. Merely saying âbuild the wallâ isnât a criminal act, nor is it advocating for Trump a criminal act. It might be dumb, but itâs not criminal.
If the graffiti had said âkill Mexicansâ or âshoot n*ggersâ or some such idiocy, then weâre in different territory.
Psyker is right thoughâTrump is the ultimate drunken frat boy/wasted frat girl candidate.
Thatâs pretty bad when just your name is considered an incitement.
âthey had a very different meaning to some than they may have to othersââŚBS. Whoever WROTE those knew exactly what t hey were sayingâŚespecially next to âTrump 2016â âŚit is not âfree speechâ. It is âHATE speechâ but of course, white privilege rules.
Agreed. The âbuild the wallâ message will hurt some people, but discomfort isnât the standard to apply here. Not only did the graffiti not target any group of people, but it was painted âon a wall meant for student graffitiâ rather than in a location associated with any particular group of people.
The university could have added something to Greek Week â a presentation where those who felt hurt by the wall had a chance to express that pain and share why it hurt.
FOX: Guys, this is freedom of speech. Its fully protected by constitution.
Snooky: Here comes deportation.
I donât agree with their sentiments at all, but theyâre being punished for writing âTrump 2016â and @Build that Wall"?
If itâs that bad, then how about someone holding the man himself, Trump, responsible??
It really sends a mixed message that we punish these bratty kids while Trump actually leads a major party in delegates and is courted by media constantly.
All I can say about this is that college has sure changed since I was there, which admittedly was too long ago to talk about, but all of these students and their little fee fees getting hurt causes the jackasses to do stuff like this. Itâs kind of silly.
There have been things that were way out of line like the gangsta parties and the affirmative action bakesales. But âTrump 2016â is a threat? Well, in a way butâŚ
It all seems much more immature than things were when i was going to undergrad. We knew the immaturity was mostly to be found was in the athletic dorm and we all avoided it.
Frankly, I should be reprimanded for the grammar in my last comment.
âThe letter, signed by the Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council and the Womenâs Panhellenic Association, also said that the students involved would not face punishments.â
âCut the horsesh*t, son. Iâve got their disciplinary files right here. Who dropped a whole truckload of fizzies into the varsity swim meet? Who delivered the medical school cadavers to the alumni dinner? Every Halloween, the trees are filled with underwear. Every spring, the toilets explode.â
republicans have been using the âsouthern strategyâ for decades, but some troll with funny hair acting like heâs a racist⌠(I say âactingâ because he seems too otherwise comfortable around different folks. as a person of color, my experience is you canât fake that.) âŚfor votes is a step too far??? itâs the same damn thing republicans always do!
No really, I am shocked because these are:
- not our values
- not who we are
- we do so much (court ordered) community stuff why are you always picking on us Greeks???!!!
Even Hillary voted to fence off the border. This is dumb.
Itâs no surprise that frat guys love Trump.
Theyâre generally extremely well-off through no hard work on their own part.
There is little in life they have ever had to work for.
What few things they canât achieve by other means they purchase with cash they didnât earn (e.g., paying for friends).
They are childish, self-centered, and have rarely spent a day inhabiting the world beyond their small, affluent, bro-ish communities.
And they love big, obnoxious hats.
