Discussion: Ohio Guv On Obamacare Repeal In GOP Congress: 'Not Gonna Happen'

Discussion for article #229062

I see Kasich running in 2016 as a realist in a field of stark raving loons. Although the Republican primary voters are mostly loony, it’s possible enough sane ones remain that he could be a viable contender with the loony vote split many ways.

Regardless, the ACA is here to stay. I predict that almost every non-Confederate state will join the Medicaid expansion in the next 2 years no matter how the 2014 election turns out.

at this point, the whole ACA “repeal” movement in congress is simply performance art. a one-act play for the rubes back home, so they’ll keep donating to the congressperson’s PAC, and voting for them.

aside from that, I suspect most of them voting to “repeal” it could either not care any less about the law, or would keel over, from a stroke, should the senate pass it and the prez. sign it into law. it’s comparable to the GOP trying to rid the country of Social Security since 1935, a position taken solely for political purposes, not with any actual intent to repeal.

should either of these laws be repealed for real, the GOP would be devastated at the polls. it turns out that an awful lot of trailer park republicans like both SS & ACA, and would be seriously pissed, if either or both were repealed.

Uh DUH!

And it only took you five years to listen to the rest of us.

Look at how drastically different lifespans in red and blue states are. Can’t really get a clearer endorsement of liberal healthcare policy than that.

“The opposition to it was really either political or ideological,” the Republican governor added. "I don’t think that holds water against real flesh and blood, and real improvements in people’s lives

This is from a Republican Governor.

So all the bleating from Republicans is about sticking one to the President, and not at all about being concerned for your day to day life and health or wellbeing. Yet people still vote to put these people in office. Boggles the mind.

“Democrats used budget rules to avoid a filibuster and pass the law in 2010.”

What kind of crap is this. In 2010 the bill OVERCAME a GOP filibuster. There were 59 Dems in the Senate, and fought like hell to get that 60th vote. Getting it cost us the government option. Don’t give me garbage that some gimmick was used to pass the law.

People get the government they deserve … sad but true.

Let’s not forget that we didn’t bother to vote in 2010 because we were stupid, and that led to all of the problems we have today.

If we don’t keep our wits about us, this man will be our next President.

Kasich took his act to Iowa in the nineties and GOP voters stayed away in droves. He should have stuck with bowling with co-eds in Ames :shit:

Stupid, and proud, and indifferent, and distracted, and…!

GOTV in 2014!! and avoid all of this article’s suppositions.

“In the Washington world, things are about control of the news cycle and preparing for the next election,” said Leavitt. “Governors are more interested in finding a way they can be comfortable in their own skins and solve problems.”

And that is because Governors have to govern. They don’t have the same leeway to play stupid political games that legislators have.

Shoerter Kasich to the (R)ubes:

Nah, OCare? It’s not so bad.
We were just f^ckin’ with y’all.
It’s all good-- right?!
