Discussion: Ohio 2018 Races To Define Future Of Voting Rights In Bellwether State

When Joe Helle returned to his small, rural hometown in 2011 after six years of active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, he found his voter registration had been purged from the rolls, leaving him unable to cast a ballot in local and statewide elections that year.

This is all part of the Troop Purge that we hear so many self-proclaimed troop-loving, Republican, war hawks clamor for.

Husted and DeWine don’t like it when blacks vote and both are obvious racists.

The biggest and most frequent occurrences of voter fraud is voter suppression practiced almost universally by the Republican Party.

But, you know, the Democrats just won’t go out and vote!!

They have never been troop loving. They care about the war and the war profiteers, not the warriors. McCain as ex solider refused to vote for the Webb GI bill. The coward abstained. Bush signed it only because of political reasons.

I agree… 100%. That’s why I qualified it (perhaps, inadequately) with “self-proclaimed.”

I know. I should have copied more.
If anyone is from Kentucky, maybe you should read this:

I said last week that the result of the teacher strikes in red states would be a push for more charter schools. Red states may also pass legislation to make walkouts and strikes firing offenses.

Which act is more disrespectful to the troops- 1) purging them from voting rolls while they are deployed or 2) African American NFL players peacefully exercising their First Amendment rights by kneeling during the National Anthem?

Silly question, #2 is MUCH more disrespectful in the eyes of voting-roll-purging Republicans.

Because of that, we need to vote these people out of office. They think their jobs are to prevent eligible citizens FROM voting, not making sure that eligible citizens have every opportunity to exercise their voting rights. They have it backwards, and so, they need to go.

If only their were some body of wise men and women in Washington who could, you know, pass legislation to nationalize Federal elections…if only.

If I can file my income tax return earlier than the deadline, why can’t I vote prior to Election Day. If everybody was required to file income tax on a single day, it would be a big problem. I believe that if a person pays taxes, and is an of-age citizen, they should be allowed to vote… maybe paying taxes should be the eligibility requirement fo voting.
