Discussion for article #242110

Prohibition spurs criminality. Legal weed = no more tunnels. It’s basic math.

Just think of all the specialty weed that would hit the market…
Lots of money to be made – and as soon as the TeaXians realize this, they’ll fall all over themselves to corporatize it… and probably approve its use in some of their religious frenzy churches.

Is most of the smuggling for marijuana? Wouldn’t they still need tunnels for other drugs like cocaine?

would americans work that hard for herb or is it Mexicans taking jobs away from americans…

This is nothing a kick ass wall wouldn’t have prevented.

You should look into that and report back.

ETA: Marijuana is considerably more bulky than cocaine, so maybe there’s a connection to the mode of smuggling used?

So much for Trumps wall. Maybe they should just dig a huuuuge ditch between the US and Mexico?

As long as there is a prohibition on drugs, our immigration policies are hopelessly out of whack, and the extreme levels of violence and poverty continue to wreak havoc in Central America, there will be tunnels.

Didn’t a Rethuglican suggest a moat filled with alligators?

My first thought was the immense carbon impact of this. The tunnel, the tons of plant material which will be burned, etc. that’s even if they didn’t catch the guys. Yep, Mexican weed ain’t worth the carbon cost of burning it. Come to Washington state for low carbon (our power is 99% from renewables) legal cannabis.
