Discussion for article #227127

If the instructor would have known that he’d still be alive.

He should have.

“County prosecutors said the instructor was likely the most criminally negligent person because he allowed the girl to hold the gun without enough training, according to the AP. Prosecutors also said the parents and the girl weren’t criminally responsible.”

So I guess justice has been served?

How about his employer who set the policy that you had to be 8 years old?

I hope she didn’t notice much about the condition of the instructor.

I can’t imagine it’s a picture she wants to remember.

The AP reported that the girl complained of shoulder pain after the incident and her family was so focused on her being injured from the gun’s recoil that they didn’t notice her instructor had been shot.

Selfishness drips from this story like hot fudge from a sundae.

Yeah, they didn’t notice the instructor lying there with pieces of his head splattered all around?

" Prosecutors also said the parents and the girl weren’t criminally responsible."

Parents allowing a 9 year old to use an Uzi, even supervised, should not only be criminally liable, they should be investigated by Child Protective Service.

Absolutely! This poor child is going to have to spend the rest of her life dealing with the fact that she killed someone. What mental anguish will she suffer? How has this incident changed the course of her very young life? The parents should definitely face some consequences for their actions, for their stupidity and inability to protect their child.

If she thinks the gun was too powerful for her, then she’s not a Real American™. She should move to one of those wuss countries, like Lichtenstein or Sweden.

She obviously has to get back on that horse a soon as possible.

Howitzer lessons are obviously needed.

Nope. I don’t agree with a kid using a gun at that age, but it’s not illegal by any means, and if the instructor had done things properly, HE would have taken the kick, not her. It was totally the instructors negligence.

Where did you get that pieces of his head were splattered all around?

I find this headline off-putting and wrong. The 9-year-old didn’t kill her instructor. The uncontrollable gun someone put in her hands did.
