Lovely tribute. I am very sad. He was not just a great artist but he was a great activist and did much good without a lot of fanfare,if any
Purple rain falls from the sky as I look out of my office window in the Twin Cities today. R.I.P., Symbolina. Your voice will be sorely missed.
I was not his biggest fan, but I was awestruck by his technical skills on a guitar, and his influence on other musicians should not be underestimated.
His impact on music will be lasting.
Itâs a big loss.
Wow Iâm numb from shock. RIP Prince.
Rest In Peace Prince.
Thank you for all your wonderful music and all those incredible concert memories. A talent like yours only comes once in a lifetime. You are gone but will not be forgotten.

My god 2016 has been brutal this way. I canât believe it - when I saw the picture I wouldnât look at the headline. All I could think was donât tell me heâs dead. Way too young.
There will never be another like him. Amazing talent.
I was not a big fan of his music (still enjoyed it) but I was greatly impressed by the independence of the man.
He REFUSED to be pigeonholed and played whatever musical style he wanted, Media companies wishes be-damned.
He was hugely talented as a guitarist, channeling Hendrix beautifully with ease and style.
In an industry that viciously enforces conformity to preconceived notions of what styles of music POC could play, he was a breath of fresh air.
He could play Rock with the best, make the guitar weep with the blues, or bounce with the Funk.
He didnât follow trends, he created them.
RIP. You will be missed.
Flags at half-mast, please. They did it for James Brown after Christmas 2006. People thought the flags were lowered for Gerald Ford, but I know it was for James Brown. RIP Prince and James.
I have two late middle-aged co-workers who go all âewwww, heâs so nastyâ every time his name comes up. Doesnât remind me of anything so much as teen girls pretending not to swoon over some boy who gives them the thigh sweats but they donât want to admit it.
I was living with an African-American family when Purple Rain was released on video. We used to have a house full of people - black, white, old, young, straitlaced, stoners, rich (that was them), poor (that was me) - and watch it over and over again and everyone was rocking.
I still work out to his music, and it still sounds fresher, funkier, and more creative than most of the musical world.
Gâbye Landshark whateveryournumberwas. Iâm glad the moderators kicked you out. Donât let your ego hit you in the ass when leaving TPM for good.
I enjoyed Princeâs music. A little after my time but thatâs OK. He was very talented and was a mover and shaker behind other stars.
I moved to Minneapolis in 1981, as Prince came to national fame. Minne was his town. He was an incredible talent who nurtured new talent and I expect a large memorial with flowers and candles outside First Avenue tonight.
Prince was (damn was
) the absolute G.O.A.T.
At a time in NYC when club DJâs were still spinning entire songs the dance floor would cheer when they played Prince and what a GREAT guitar player. Who else could rock a puffy shirt?
I was a big fan in the 80âs when it wasnât cool for a longhair, dope smoking,Southern boy to be a Prince fan. Iâm 57 too.
Oh, goodness, what a keen insight and knowledge you have to assert that Prince Rogers Nelson was a musician of limited musical vocabulary, that he hadnât absorbed and mastered every pop genre before he was out of his teens, that he lacked imagination, taste, and verve, that he wasnât an electrifying performer, that he was dull and repetitive. Who except anyone who has a fucking clue could argue with that? Said a mouthful there, and I imagine youâll say a bit more before youâre FUCKING BANNED AGAIN LANDSHARK.
RIP Prince. A sad day for music fans everywhere.
