Discussion: Obama's National Security Team Mounts Strong Defense Of Bergdahl Rescue

The Democratic House attached amendments to successive budget bills funding the entire government during the 80’s that prohibited funding for the Nicaraguan forces fighting to overthrow a newly established Communist government. Since neither the Senate nor the Reagan administration were going to shut down the entire government over the issue, the Boland amendments became “law”.

There were legitimate questions at the time whether the House Boland amendments were Constitutional, but the issue was not presented to the Supreme Court.

Not quite the same thing as Congress specifically passing a law to not “fund an illegal war”.

The reality is that piss-poor journalism will interchangeably use terms like “rescue” and “prisoner swap” and intellectually dishonest readers will accept that as “reality”.

Where would Senator Johnny McCain be right now if nobody was concerned about getting him back from Viet Nam?

Don’t know but he’s already primping for this Sunday’s Gasbag Extravaganza.

Hey 538 - this is a political grand salami for the President, a win/win no matter how you slice it. Where do you get me “hating America”? Or is it just that I mentioned Obama w/o first praising him?

Did I misinterpret this? Maybe I should have written Still hating Democrats, instead.

And the other side of the coin is that if the guy had died in enemy hands, Republicans would be bitching and moaning that Obama was at fault for not trading 3 worthless gitmo prisioners.

It doesn’t matter what he does they will find the dark cloud to every silver lining.

call them terrorist or don’t call them terrorist whats the difference.
Oh Bergdahl. I thought you said benghazi.
