I wonder if they know each other from Hyde Park/Woodlawn days in Chicago. BHO was organizing in Woodlawn in the 80s and at least some of the kids were at Lab School then. Maybe not but they might have some history.

obviously he’s coercing them into keeping their mouths shut about the REAL cause of Scalia’s death, and to support his unconstitutional and tyrannical plans to nominate a replacement for him.

too easy to predict: right-wing blogs and pundits lose their minds over Obama meeting with Scalia family, insisting that they should have refused to meet with him and told him to go fuck himself.
Right-wing commenters throw tantrums, outraged that Obama once again is a megalomaniac “making it all about himself”.

They are simply the classiest President and First Lady this country has ever had.
And that’s, I suspect, due to the fact that both seem very grounded.
I know that were I Michelle Obama, watching my husband get trashed and disrespected right and left by elected officials, media, and pundits? I’d be barking mad right now.

He did criminal defendants and their attorneys
Some solids on the 4th Amendment & process-
But that was pretty much the apex.

Oh, I think she is probably very angry about the ugliness that has been thrown at her family. But, I also suspect that part of the bargain that the Obamas made with each other was that during his time as president, she would keep her anger to herself. I’ve said this on several occasions, but I am most looking forward to the book that Michelle Obama writes about her years in the White House. I would bet she has a lot to say that she has kept to herself.

Yes, what a good observation you make! She will need a good editor to keep it from being a jeremiad of rage. She has been so provoked! I guess her wise husband will pitch in, give her the affection and support she will need.

The TPM writers are very bad at what they do. Too many grammatical and composition errors that most of us spot and correct in an instant. Wonder if Josh knows how sloppy they are because they’re damaging his rep as a serious journalist.

No, you missed the memo, or at least the memo that’s circulating on the Right.
President Obama, by failing to attend the actual funeral, is ignoring a tradition that has stood since the founding of our nation. Every single president, without fail, has attended the funeral of every Supreme Court justice. Obama is just showing the world that he hates America, mom, apple pie, baseball, guns, and Jesus Christ.
None of that is true, of course, but the Right is spinning Obama’s actions as a bad thing.
