Discussion: Obama's Goal: Be The Progressive Ronald Reagan

The latest report on real GDP growth estimates this year’s first quarter at a pitiful 0.1%. That is in the 6th year of Obama’s Presidency. Deep recessions are supposed to be followed by strong recoveries, but, under Obama, the worst recession since the 1930s has been followed by the slowest economic recovery in U.S. history.
As far as working with a republican congress…are we going to have to listen to him whine about this for the next 2 years as if he was the only president to work with an opposing congress? He needs to pull up his big girl panties, cooperate and get to work.

This article is nothing but BS in my opinion.

Here’s my take on Joni Ernst’s inaugural rebuttal:

The GOP theoretically got the majority of their support from ordinary middle class folks. The GOP also is all in for tax cuts in a big way. Why then would the GOP members in the House and Senate sit on their hands when Obama says he wants some tax relief for middle class folks? I know I know you’ll say the GOP only wants cuts for rich “job creators”.

Cooperation works two ways. There’s a reason it’s called Bipartisanship. Apparently you listened to a wholly different speech than the one Obama gave. Obama spoke about cooperation and working together to move us forward. did you miss that part? And as for republican thinking it was best summed up by no less a luminary that Rush Limbaugh the day after the midterm election when he said the following during his radio program:

“It is to stop Barack Obama. It is to stop the Democrats,” Limbaugh
said on his show Wednesday about Republicans’ agenda. “There is no
other reason why Republicans were elected yesterday. Republicans were not
elected to govern.”

“How can you govern with a president that is demonstrably lawless when
he thinks he has to be?” Limbaugh continued. “The Republican Party
was not elected to fix a broken system or to make it work. The Republican Party
was not elected to compromise. The Republican Party was not elected to sit down
and work together with the Democrats.”

So I submit that it isn’t completely up to Obama to cooperate, the republicans need to drop this anarchy only tactic and govern like adults.

I agree. What I have issue with is that he speaks of cooperation, but what I heard was Obama issuing a number of veto threats and ultimatums rather than reaching out to Congress.

Google it…there are numerous links

Googled that…

found this,

"Real gross domestic product -- the value of the production of goods and services in the United

States, adjusted for price changes – increased at an annual rate of 5.0 percent in the third quarter of
2014, according to the “third” estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the second
quarter, real GDP increased 4.6 percent."

source Gross Domestic Product | U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA)

and this…

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the United States expanded at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.0 percent in the third quarter of 2014 over the previous quarter. GDP Growth Rate in the United States averaged 3.27 Percent from 1947 until 2014, reaching an all time high of 16.90 Percent in the first quarter of 1950 and a record low of -10 Percent in the first quarter of 1958. GDP Growth Rate in the United States is reported by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

The very next report on GDP will not happen until January 30, 2015. That’s kinda like, ya know…

The stupid title of this article was the dead giveaway that the story was going to be wholly horseshit.
