I support you, Mr. President. I support taking military assault weapons off the streets. Enough is enough!
BHO: “If we don’t act, we will keep seeing more massacres like this.”
Republicans in Congress are incapable of acting.
They only know how to act out.
Trump camp: “Obama threatens to turn his terrorist pals loose with more massacres to come, unless America surrenders unconditionally.”
I am watching the President give his remarks. He is so disgusted and who can blame him
Yesterday, I sent off a little card to President and FLOTUS Obama. It was short and sweet, but basically I thanked them for being such great people, great role models for our youth. I thanked President Obama for helping guide us to better times and setting us on a course for a fairer and more equal society. Such a good man and such a good First Lady. Hillary (and Bill) has some really big shoes to fill … but I think she’s up to the task.
The Republican goon squad is in a panic, running every last putrid flag up the flagpole as fast as they can to find out the one the idiot chorus will salute, trying desperately to shift the blame to Obama for the consequences of their obstruction of the most common-sense, widely supported measures.
But what they’re going to find out is that even the idiot chorus understands we’d be better off not selling firearms to people on the terrorist watch list, it’s just that blatantly obvious. They cannot win this one.
GOP: This is not the time to enact gun control laws. It’s time for prayer to Lord Jesus.
Huckabee: Get over it Obama, It was The Gays.
Little Marco: It was Orlando’s turn.
Jeb!: Stuff Happens.
thoughts and prayers aren’t going to work? But they’ve doing so splendidly so far.
McCain: “Get off my lawn!”
I think you left out a couple words, there, trippin: “fuckin’” and “fags,” as in “Get off my fuckin’ lawn, you fags!” Isn’t that pretty much John McCain’s attitude toward the LGBTQ community?
No, the worst response was (not made up) Ted Cruz on the Senate floor railing about the “empty political show” (or words to that effect) of the Dem. filibuster … which, I would add, unlike his “Green Eggs and Ham” ridiculousness, had multiple lawmakers talking seriously about the issue and (pray it holds) succeeded in getting some concessions. And if you watch him, it’s perfectly clear that he isn’t at all aware that there is any irony. (Suggestion: take Pepto Bismol first, however. Almost makes one glad Trump won.)
As much as I support Obama generally, I wish America could handle the truth which is, we will never stop terrorists or terrorism. We can only put out the fires here and there. This never ends and I wish someone could say it instead of a false promise of “success”. I don’t find this to be as scary as some do, apparently.
" 'GOP Makes It Easy For Terrorists To Buy Weapons"
Chuck, I think you’re right. Personally, I would prefer to hear the cold, hard truth. Until–if–humanity evolves past tribalism, religions as we understand them, the need to “control” others, “success” against terrorism is relative. To me, “success” is two-fold: Creating an environment where everyone feels like they matter, like they have at least a chance to make something of themselves, feed and clothe their families, achieve some level of personal “success,” not feeling oppressed geopolitically-speaking … and actually measuring a real decrease in events and thwarted events (which would indicate real “success.”) even though intelligence is at peak performance. Now, that would be what I’d call “success.”
I couldn’t agree more. As a free and open society, we face certain risks that we need to face up to. That being said, we can and should take steps to mitigate the risks, such as an assault weapons ban and taking away the right to have weapons to certain “risk to society” type individuals. That alone would make a difference in the sheer carnage we’ve seen.
It’s almost impossible to stop a “lone wolf” bent on death and destruction, but with proper policies in place, we can mitigate the damage to our communities. What’s it going to be?
If you mean actual jihadi-types then yes that is true. If you mean American-style domestic terrorism then no, we can actually make a pretty big dent in that, and your sentiment would be more valid once we do.
Everyone: Just take a moment and picture DJT consoling these poor heartbroken families and making remarks like the ones POTUS just made in Orlando. Just imagine.

Just imagine.
[/quote]I get chills and then anger almost instantaneously.
Start by making it harder for terrorists to get guns.
Jeez, it’s easier for a terrorist to get lethal weapons, than for a pregnant woman to get legal health care. Republicans claim to be pro life.
They aren’t. They’re just mixed up, and it’s killing us.
