Then count me as the exception that proves the rule, because I am 0 for 7 in your schema. I must be a dismal failure as a Boomer.
A tradition is for the outgoing president to leave a letter for his successor. Obama should write on the outside of the envelope āthe presidency for dummiesā
I donāt know why this string of anti-baby boomer gross generalizations has cropped up here, but they are all bullshit. Yeah, Iām one. The progressive part of my generation were on the hippie subculture side. Weāre the people who broke societal norms which were way more universal than anyone after that can imagine and had idealistic views of the future that we thought we should work towards and institute where we could.
You know how GenX/millenials think having sexual relationships is a normal thing before maybe getting married or not and having kids? How gay people and various nonwhite minorities are just a thing and no big deal? How workplaces should be cooperative? How anyone should have whatever tattoos or piercings or wear whatever clothes and have whatever kind of haircut they want? How smoking dope is not the end of the world and should not get you arrested and thrown in jail? How the various arts are a good thing that we should all understand and support? How we should care for the environment and the health of the earth and endangered species and think about how food is produced and look for organic and locally sourced food? Millions of people marching to protest Nixonās Viet Nam (and beyond) war? The idea that we own our bodies and we should be in charge of what happens - like to a fetus - inside it?
Well, youāre welcome. We did that.
Everyone I knew from then is the same now.
Back then there was another contingent, those clinging to the established ways and values. Young Republicans. They havenāt changed either. It didnāt end there. Justice Alito is a little younger, but heās one of them.
So letās not indulge in negative generalizations of any generation please.
Nah. Heāll stay ignorant. He claims to have āa great brainā. Must be empty.
I think you need to add a few more fuckityfuckfucks to that paragraph.
@darrtown i do nāt think Trump will really listen to anyone so much as half-hear them. He makes Karl Rove and his āreality makingā look positively brilliant in comparison.
There are just two checks on the Orange Wonder: his penchant for needless drama in his house, and a Congress eternally protecting itsā own turf.
Or mortgaged out his bleached wazoo
Who is this Trump that Obama speaks of? A mythical representation, not at all like the guy we all have come to know. Am I missing some grand strategy on Obamaās part? Or is he play acting the part of Smooth Transitioner in Chief? WTF, he is breaking my heart latelyā¦
Thanks for the statistics and I admit that my rebuke was a rash response to the āblame the baby boomers for screwing up the world slamā but my point wasnāt meant to be that Baby Boomees did more of these things better than the next generation, only that many of that generation worked very hard to give this generation a better life. I would have been better served by pointing out that it was the Baby Boomers who fought for reproductive rights, voting rights, brought you the Internet, and better teachers in schools. etc⦠it is the responsibility of this generation to not take those things for granted and vote, protest, and fight for what they believe.
Trump could care less. In case everyone forgot that little shit Grover Norquist - this has been their plan all along.
āAll we have to do is replace Obama. ⦠We are not auditioning for fearless leader. We donāt need a president to tell us in what direction to go. We know what direction to go. We want the Ryan budget. ⦠We just need a president to sign this stuff. We donāt need someone to think it up or design it. The leadership now for the modern conservative movement for the next 20 years will be coming out of the House and the Senate. [ā¦]
Pick a Republican with enough working digits to handle a pen to become president of the United States. This is a change for Republicans: the House and Senate doing the work with the president signing bills. His job is to be captain of the team, to sign the legislation that has already been prepared.ā Grover Norquist - 2012
Sound like any orange buttplug you know?
Boomer here. Happily married for 30 plus years. Successful, fulfilled painter by profession, married to a writer. Mother of an awesome, educated, entrepreneur millenial democrat. So, quit generalizing and categorizing, please.
Donāt leave us hanging ā post his Twitter handle!
Heh, a newly wed
I donāt get the impression that these are ābriefsā kind of people.
Boxers or more likely full on commando is more likelyā¦
OH puhleezeā¦
You paint an entire āgenerationā (says who? Who determines the borders of these constructs? Why? Hint; itās the media, dummy) with a huge brush, the same way others paint GenXers as feckless and millennials as lazy, its ALL bullshit! Itās weak minded individuals and groups, needing to ācategorizeā everything to compensate for they ADD
It comes down to ONE. SINGLE. THINGā¦
How did your parents raise ya? (And did you listen!?)
Ok, maybe thatās two thingsā¦
Itās not as if Trump is able to retain information which doesnāt conform to the sociopath tapes playing between his ears. Might as well try to talk to an elephantās ass.
Correctionā¦elephantās ass.
Nah, heāll just tweet that shit out. We good, Barry?
Forgive my bitterness heheā¦but Iām of the generation the babyboomers have utterly destroyed: their children.
If the children of baby boomers were engaged and came out to vote (as in 2008 and 2012) we likely would not be in this place right now - It is the one tenth of one percentage of the baby boomers who have gotten us into this pickle.
UnpresiDented LibTards. Why Wonāt OhBUmmer geT tough on ChinA?
