Discussion for article #246422
And please, Mr. President, kind sir, do not lubricate your latex glove when you ram your fist up the collective ass of the Senate Republicans.
And keep doing it. Every week. Beat them over the head with their duty.
This is the kind of battle Obama was born to win.
Does anyone think that John Roberts will be so bold as to communicate with the Judiciary committee?
If the Republicans in Congress can sue the President over ACA, executive orders, etc, why can’t Obama sue the Senate GOP?
"The President also said once there is “an actual nominee” rather than “an abstraction”…
Unfortunately, Mr. President, these guys can never view you as an actual president who won not one but two terms… Two abstract terms is how they see it.
Our job is to take the presidency and both Houses of Congress in November.
Jimmy Young.
Reason number 4317 why I admire Obama. He’s so much more composed than I could ever imagine myself being.
Sir, respectively, the GOPers in the Senate are in their own non-reality bubble. They won’t listen to you or to anything resembling reason as reason has a well known liberal bias. Anyone you choose must immediately fall on their sword.
Had I been POTUS McConnell would have been called into the Oval Office for a father to son “behind the woodshed” chat.
Mr President: Send in a nomination: that’s YOUR job. Let the Republican members of theSenate respond. Follow your usual modus operandi: calm, deliberate decision making. Let McConnell deal with the grenade you deliver into his hands. If he chooses to sit on it …the explosion will have consequences!!!
Thank you for your voice of reason amongst the circus freaks and sideshows,
I think you meant to say “Every Day”
Hold a press briefing every morning and pound the living daylights out of them all.
President Obama just returned fire. You notice Republicans are not talking about POTUS defying the Constitution, or being a dictator? They’re gambling (again) that Mr. Obama is going to not call their bluff (again). Now, the question is (again), how do the Republicans manage to back down while saving face?
Opening salvo. Actually provides an escape hatch for GOP. Such an honorable opponent.
I pray that they hold the line. I would love to watch the President hammer them over the head for the next 8 months on this issue until every swing state Senator lost their race for refusing to do their job. The GOP overplayed their hand. They went all in on this issue, and if the President calls their bluff, they can’t get out of it without losing face.
Had they been smart they would have looked around, counted heads and said, “We control the Senate. Let him nominate whoever he wants, tar that person through the election cycle on Fox News, then hold the vote and reject them…”
Instead they jumped so far up their own ass so quickly that they totally forgot their whole strategy was to try to keep the fact that they have been actively sabotaging the political process for 8 years, out of the news. It worked fine when it was just a series of boring process stories only the too-few avid follower of politics cared about. Now, they have brought the full spotlight on themselves.
The question then is whether or not the American people will accept this from a GOP Senate majority, or will, as has been proved time and again by the government shutdowns, will public opinion eventually force them to capitulate and lose all face?
gop can’t govern.
What gop is saying is, “if you don’t like our obstruction, vote us out.”
I’m thinking that the Dan Coates in IN replacement will be a DEM.
Then SCREW THEM!
Recess appointment! Recess appointment!!
“Harold Hitz Burton resigned from the Court due to ill health on October 13, 1958. Five days later, on October 18, 1958, Eisenhower used a recess appointment to seat Potter Stewart on the Court”
And if the gop/bags do their usual stunt of suing you, let it go all the way to the SCOTUS and let’s see who wins…since your guy WILL be seated then.
And Hillary will be President!
Yep, keep them on the ropes, don’t let up.
