Discussion: Obama To Hold Press Conference Today At 2:50 PM ET

Discussion for article #229815

He’ll congratulate the GOP on their victory, say he’s ready to work with them, and the firebaggers will say he’s caved and accuse him of backstabbing them. Funny, these firebaggers bashed the very Democrats that would’ve kept this from happening.

Will he bring his Winston Churchill speech, or his Neville Chamberlain?

Y’know what? I don’t even fucking care. Good thing you scheduled that exactly when nobody can watch it. I’m sure the liberal media will cherry pick a half dozen or so words out of it and present whatever narrative out of it that fits their agenda for the 5 O’Clock news.

Here, let me summarize: ā€œElections matter. And, America, I have heard your voice loud and clear. I’m headed over to the Senate to sing Kum Ba Ya with my new Best Friends For Life. Thank you. And, God Bless America.ā€

Dear President Obama,

Please remember you have the power of the veto.

Thanks,
America

Oh no, he won’t cave. Whatever would give anyone that idea?

And anyone who simply examines the evidence and concludes Obama is what used to be called a moderate conservative must be called some goofy, childish, disparaging name, because, you know, that’s ā€œDemocratic outreach.ā€ That’s exactly the kind of posture that yields election results like these.

Instead, I’d recommend that Democrats try a new path. Instead of trying to out-Republican the Republicans which never works (after all, anyone so inclined would certainly choose the real thing), how about giving all those voters who didn’t vote something to actually vote for?

I suggested that earlier and got piled on for it.

I agree. Why would anyone listen to Obama anymore? Here we have the serial coward and liar. I hope he doesn’t interfere with The Price Is Right, by far more enlightening than anything Obama has ever said or done. I haven’t listened to or watched Obama for years now. Why would I waste my time and become even more disappointed in this country’s lack of leadership and support for We the People.

I think Pres. Obama will smile and appear conciliatory. But I don’t think he will have forgotten the shit members of Congress has given him the last 6 years and will act accordingly.
I think we will see his veto pen used.
My hope is that Senate Democrats will remember the obstruction the GOP dished and will serve it right back, hot and fresh.

Oh no doubt. Look at some of the replies here.

Exactly! Thank you. And these firebaggers are about to get what they so richly deserve. Bring on the Grand Bargain. I want to see steep Medicare and Social Security cuts. And please, cut the shit out of Food Stamps. You don’t vote, bitch, you won’t eat. This isn’t a game. This is life. You don’t get to stay home every two years 'cause you tired, 'cause you don’t feel like it.
And the firebaggers, you built this! You never, ever supported this president. You did nothing but bitch and whine and fucking complain that he wasn’t sufficiently liberal. You claim he didn’t support a public option despite the fact that you can Google ā€œObamaā€ and ā€œpublic optionā€ and see where he publicly spoke about it on more than a dozen occasions. You whined that he didn’t close Gitmo despite the fact that even Liberal Superman Bernie Sanders voted to stop the president from doing so. And then you told everyone to stay home in 2010 in order to teach the president a lesson. Well, you ain’t gotta worry about it now. I hope this president gets medieval on that ass.

Here’s a strategy: increase turnout by not whining about Democrats, and they win!

Funny, the same people bashing Democrats who ran from Obama haven’t been his staunchest supporters.

And hats off to you for fighting for Grimes, you did what most of the progressives on this blog didn’t: actually worked your butt off TO make progress, which is the root word of progressive.

You’re just like Milt Shook at pleasecutthecrap.com, who actually has a WINNING attitude, as opposed to a defeatist and cynical attitude. The progressive movement needs more of you and Milt and less of the whining progressives who do nothing BUT bash Democrats day in and day out! If you can, support Milt’s blog, because he needs it in order for the progressive movement to be a serious political force again.

Does poor Plucky need some ā€˜time out’?

He won’t deviate from the Neville Chamberlain shtick. It’s served him too well for the past 6 years.
