Discussion: Obama To Give Remarks Tuesday At Dallas Memorial Service

Hope the Secret Service pats down Gov. Abbott and Lt. Gov. Patrick.

Hmm…worrying. No open car, I’m sure. Still worrying, but the president has to go.

No doubt, through the pain, he’ll deliver a somber, thoughtful, and soaring speech that’ll help soothe raw and tender feelings.

It’s unfair that he has to do this yet again…but there’s no one better.

“The president urged Americans to not “let the actions of a few define
all of us,” saying that the “demented individual” who carried out the
attack in Dallas was “no more representative of African-Americans” than
Dylann Roof, the suspect in the Charleston, South Carolina church
shooting, was of white Americans or Omar Mateen, the gunman in the
Orlando nightclub massacre, was of Muslim Americans.”

AMEN !

Wingnuts complain that Obama is politicizing a tragedy in 3-2-1…

He will help us fly again. He will give a speech that soothes and helps us move forward. He will be so missed!

The shooter trained at one of those dream places the NRA loves–a site where “self-defense” with guns is taught and where the shooter practiced…Academy of Combative Warrior Arts, a private self-defense
school in the Dallas area which teaches tactics like “shooting on the move."

Millions of us will not miss him one bit, just like dubya and dick.

You have a right to your opinion, but no attempt to make the presidencies equivalent is credible. President Obama did not start war under false pretenses and then tank the economy by cutting taxes while waging war.

His words are needed, because America is close to falling into two hardened and opposed camps on the issue of policing. To solve this, somehow those groups representing cops and the minority community need to come together to work out meaningful and credible reforms, in cities across America. Otherwise more cops and more blacks will die, and the schism between the black community and the police grow, undermining safety in those neighborhoods.

Dallas seems to be have made significant improvements, but you can see in New York, that electing a liberal mayor who wants to push reforms, isn’t enough if the police resist. The murder rate in Baltimore is a great example of what happens if the police pull away from their duties in black neighborhoods. Obama’s words are needed to break this divide, not fix the problem, but just to move a few more people in power towards needed reforms.

Ya know, I was watching Chunk Toad a few days ago, maybe Friday, on DC’s NBC local news. He sat there so smug and patronizing as he is with his hipster facial hair that just makes him look like an aging ass castigating Obama for not being “here” “at this moment” giving a primetime address to heal the Nation. No mention that Obama was at the NATO summit. He said this shows how Obama has not been a leader on racial/divide issues and that we have no leadership on this. If I could have gone through the flatscreen to flatten him, I would have. Of course, the anchors just sat there bobbing their coifed heads.

Well if we (shudders) get a Republican President anytime soon, we’ll never have to worry about a Presidential speech trying to heal this nation. We’ll get a castigation of blame and pointing of fingers to “those” people as not being “American” enough.

For those of us who were sentient in 1963, nightmares await.

Agree, no matter what happens, everything is an opportunity to bash Obama.

Remember after the French magazine office was attacked by terrorists a year ago, Obama was bashed for not hopping into an impromptu march down the street?

I’m sure he’ll give an eloquent, inclusive and intelligent speech that hits the proper tone. And I’m sure roughly half the country won’t bother to watch it or read a transcript before screaming about how divisive it was because Rush Limbaugh and Hannity told them it was.

You’ve been reading trumpet’s fans’ remarks on Facebook, haven’t you? They’re vile.

Very little. Those comments turn my stomach. It’s not just the virulent hatred of Hillary, but also of the media and all liberals.
