Discussion for article #240588
“I’m here to say that there’s nothing particularly patriotic or American about talking down America, especially when we stand as one of the few sources of economic strength in the world,” Obama continued.
Will any of the GOP candidates dare use this quote against Trump?
“The President, however, believes that that debate should be rooted in facts,” Earnest said.
That’s why they think of him as the President of the Democrats.
Nope.
“The President, however, believes that that debate should be rooted in facts,” Earnest said.
I’ll believe in the Tooth Fairy before I believe that the GOTP debate is going to be rooted in facts.
He’s really chumming the water today, the debate should be interesting.
How could anyone use this quote against Trump when they’re all saying fundamentally the same thing?
Like the President, I’ll wait for the summary statements. Like the President, when it comes to these so-called contenders, I’m out of F’s to give.
Okay folks, how much do we love this President???
And second, are you sure that a certain one of those candidates isn’t getting under his skin a little bit?"
Do any of these sh*theads (in the press) understand that President Obama is NOT running for a third term!!! He was elected then re-elected. Which he would be happy to remind any of them. He doesn’t need to watch the klown kar implode and it doesn’t get under his skin because he’s got no skin in this (election) game anymore.
“Getting under the president’s skin”? Seriously? I think what we have here is Obama going on a 24/7, troll the fuck out of the GOP field spree.
A really successful one. LOL.
No. They don’t. And they don’t get that POTUS is trolling all of them, and enjoying it immensely.
I heard President Obama’s comments at this event, and the Q and A session afterwards.
It was interesting – questions about tax reform, cybersecurity, energy, China, infrastructure, education, the TPP, the Export-Import Bank, and other big topics.
As usual, Obama spoke knowledgeably on the subjects, and it appeared he had a somewhat sympathetic audience – despite what some see as an antagonistic relationship between Obama and the business community.
He noted that on some of the issues, “the politics are difficult,” and noted that some Republicans were blocking discussion on issues with bipartisan support for purely political reasons.
And, he urged them to talk to Congressional Republicans about their concerns because, “You still have influence over them.”
Reality is not something the candidates will be talking about this evening.
The sad reality is they did nothing on their side, and fought against every bit of progress that was made. And that pretty much sums up the last sixty years of the GOP.
“And second, are you sure that a certain one of those candidates isn’t getting under his skin a little bit?”
(President pats his pockets.) “Nope. Sorry. All out of fucks to give.”
That’s pretty much conservativism in a nutshell. I can’t think of a single piece of progressive legislation that has ever been passed by a conservative legislature. Ever. Anywhere.
I love watching President Obama. He has beat them at everything they have thrown at him and they still can’t figure it out. The President skillfully puts them in the corner with the dunce cap on.
Inviting Netanyahu to the White House is icing on the cake.
It wasn’t patriotic in 2010, 2012, or 2014, either.
Or 2000 when Bush implied Gore was the cause of . . . whatever.
Would like to know what specific knucklehead asked that question - although we can all probably make some good guesses.
I remember back when the White House press corps was an assignment that marked you as being near the top of your profession rather than the place they exiled the most juvenile, small-minded, sophomoric asshats on the payroll.
Sam Donaldson seems, in hindsight, to have been a critical transitional figure in this transformation.
