Discussion: Obama: 'Tend To This Garden Of Democracy' Or Risk Nazi Germany Path

There it is.

Any shred of a fig leaf the GOP has been covering their racist gonads with will be dropped like a stone now. They will happily be the explicitly pro-Nazi, anti-democratic party they’d already morphed into with their anti-black, anti-Obama obsession.

ā€œGermany can no longer simply react to US policy but must establish its own position… even after Trump leaves the White House, relations with the US will never be the same.ā€
— German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel

Fun Fact: Canada — CANADA! — issued a similar statement last April after Cockholster unitarily scuttled NAFTA.

A year ago, he was expressing confidence (with what degree of sincerity, it’s hard to say) that our institutions were strong enough to survive this.

I think the two messages are one and the same, really. Our institutions are strong enough to survive this… as long as we are not complacent.

I don’t believe he, like many, many people, knew how bad it would really be.

Well that’s… terrifying.

Has Lou Dobbs issued another call for putting Obama in chains for the crime of criticizing unser Fuhrer?

He’s not wrong.

Yea, but coming from him is a lesson in selective amnesia, as he had an historic opportunity to put these bastards in jail and save democracy from the grip of the 1%, and cripple the rise of plutocracy in America. He chose not to and here we are today, running scared while relying exclusively on the integrity of Mueller & Co. Obama bares some of the responsibility.

Did we really know that Russia was going to successfully deploy the Trump bomb?

Given that we all did, each and every woman and man who comments here saw it clearly, there is no chance he didn’t.

Ordinarily, I’d explain why I disagree with you, but, unfortunately, I am pedantically focused on ā€œbaresā€ rather than ā€œbearsā€ and can’t get my brain out of that track.

EDIT: Then again, I just had to fix a ā€œpublicā€ I’d typed as ā€œpubic,ā€ so there seems to be a theme of some kind here. Possibly the subconscious effect of all that sexual harassment talk this week.

Whatever you do, don’t mention the Germans.

Cut me some slack, I’m taking a break from breading two trays of eggplants for the weekend.

Missed the sexual harassment threads earlier in the week. Banned for doing exactly that. Sometimes it’s wanted, sometimes not. Timing matters, and as I always say, if you want to take a woman’s clothes off, be polite and charming and she may take them off all by herself.

Better if we do the ā€˜Germans’ another time.

This handwriting has been on the wall for all to read. Now someone has read it out loud.

:smirk:

If Obama believes this - which I am certa8n he does - he owes it to the country to come out of retirement and lead the national opposition. History will not forgive him if be doesn’t.

ā€˜lead the national opposition’

Is that the snarky part?

…the former president told the Economic Club of Chicago that ā€œthings can fall apart fairly quicklyā€ if Americans don’t ā€œtend to this garden of democracy.ā€

Here’s a rather dire visual foretelling of Trump’s Garden:
