Discussion: Obama Steers Clear Of Trump, Urges Bridge-Building At Chicago Event

Trouble is, while Obama wants to build bridges, Trump is only interested in building walls.

Imagine, a president who can answer questions intelligibly, think, and offer cogent advice. We all miss you, President Obama.

I got teary-eyed when I spotted this mural during an early Easter morning bike ride on Chicago’s south side.

Today and for the next very welcome appearances he’ll make, he’ll be diplomatic, discreet, subtle, etc., but very soon when he and Holder take on the work of making sure redistricting is done fairly in 2020 (and hopefully to party’s advantage) he won’t be Mr. Nice Guy any more.

. . . the aim of taking on the gerrymandering that’s left the party behind in statehouses and made winning a House majority far more difficult.

The new group, called the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, was developed in close consultation with the White House. President Barack Obama himself has now identified the group — which will coordinate campaign strategy, direct fundraising, organize ballot initiatives and put together legal challenges to state redistricting maps — as the main focus of his political activity once he leaves office.

@demosthenes59 The president was asked to give an example of how to be erudite.

To illustrate your point, listen to Obama then read as much of today’s AP Trump interview / gibberish as you can take.

I looked over the interview he gave with Bartiromo which WaPo annotated the dumbest of the dumb things he said. It was unbearable. I’ve linked to it but no one should drop everything to read it. This is the interview in which he rhapsodizes about eating chocolate cake following a few words on missiles…

Obama will always have class, the sort of class we associate with past presidents. Trump will always be a bump on the previously smooth road of class that turned America from a group of associated colonies (such as the Republican Party envisions as our future) into the World Leader Nation it became under so many who just took on the presidential mantle and bore it well.

He is Mr. Nice Guy to a fault. And always will be.

Trump either has dementia or he is a lying incoherent idiot. Or maybe it’s both.

Hard to find a single word for the blank. Greed. Narcissism. Malevolence. Debasement. ???

Edited to add: Imbecilic. ??

Why is that guy with the tattoo on his head yelling at Obama?

That’s called ‘stealing his thunder’. Totally dismissed him as anyone would a speck of fly shit.

I mean, walk softly and carry a large amygdala.

George, George, George. We have a choice. A president we can continue to admire who’s a nice guy, polite and who loves and respects his wife (and daughters) or we can turn to trumPP. What you’ve said is not a compliment. It’s nothing but a slam. So fuck off and don’t post anything to me.

Yes, little girl, it was not meant to be a compliment. You can admire him all you want, nothing wrong with that, but don’t expect him to stop being Mr. Nice Guy.

And Mr. Nice Guy allowed the Democratic Party to fall to ruin under his leadership.
