MASON COUNTY, Wash. - The Mason County Sheriff’s Office confirms one child was taken from a home where police are in negotiations with a man who claims he shot his family.
Authorities report the man called 911 at 9:37 a.m. Friday, saying he shot his wife and children and was holding a gun to his head.

The killer was served with a restraining order, probably due to a domestic violence issue, 90 minutes before he began his shooting spree. Brownback sends the usual “thoughts and prayers.”

It’s a horrible thing to become accustomed to news of shootings literally every day with the weapon being used an assault rifle. Four killings qualify as a mass shooting, three victims and the shooter. One a day. Wait for the “thoughts and prayers” offering, then turn the page.

There’s been an ongoing debate as to what counts as a mass shooting - in this case, even though some people were killed and others were wounded, this event might not count, because the shooter was the fourth person killed.
Yes, that’s how cynical some people are.
I prefer using the Mass Shooting Tracker’s definition: a mass shooting counts everyone, whether injured or killed.

This breaking right now, four killed and shooter killed himself. So, yeah it might qualify as the second tragedy today.
