Discussion for article #241046
If Obama likes him, all the more reason for the wingnuts to jump for joy.
Obama went on to say Boehner was a man who had to face down unruly mobs, never appreciated at work, always criticized by all parties, and finally, basically forced to resign. Yes sir! Orange really really is the new black.
Seriously, no one who calls Steve King an asshole can be all bad.
Well played sir…
President Obama celebrated the character of House Speaker John Boehner during a Friday press conference, saying he “is a good man. He is a patriot.”
Ted Cruz on Boehner resignation: “I have long called on Republican leadership to do something unusual, which is lead.”
“If it is correct that the speaker, before he resigns, has cut a deal with Nancy Pelosi to fund the Obama administration for the rest of its tenure, to fund Obamacare, to fund executive amnesty, to fund Planned Parenthood, to fund implementation of this Iran deal — and then, presumably, to land in a cushy K Street job after joining with the Democrats to implement all of President Obama’s priorities, that is not the behavior one would expect of a Republican speaker of the House.”
Contrast and compare.
good working relationship with the speaker, who plans to step down on Oct. 30.
First speaker ever forced to resign for trying to make government function…
Our President - ever classy
Obama is taking the high road, but he’s not actually lying, Boehner did actually have a solid professional relationship with him. Boehner was consistently held hostage by ~20 or so extremists within his caucus who incapable of being led and would not abide by any negotiations or agreements he reached with Obama. There’s not much Boehner could’ve done differently there. Boehner tried to do some old-fashioned governing and keep everything functioning, but the people he was supposed to be leading simply wanted to watch the world burn and hated him for not allowing them to do so.
Yep, the mark of the beast!
I think the POTUS is being a lot nicer than he needs to be and, like the overuse of the appellation of hero, Boner’s no more a patriot than I am. In fact, as I never obstructed the work of the people, I am more of a patriot.
If you cannot recognize the good in your opponent, you are part of the problem with the country.
