noted that five of the top 10 judged presidents in the American pantheon served between 1933 and 1969.

Are there mostly Democratic POTUS’ on that list?

O thank you TPM for posting a picture of that long cool drink of water.

God I forget what we had and it’s all I can do to keep my heart in one piece just looking at him.

We love you, President Obama.

From Edna Greene Medford who was on the advisory committee for this survey: “Although 12th is a respectable overall ranking, one would have thought that former President Obama’s favorable rating when he left office would have translated into a higher ranking in this presidential survey. I am especially surprised that he was ranked at 7th in moral authority (despite heading a scandal-free administration); 19th in administrative skills; and 8th in economic management (despite having helped to save the auto industry and significantly reducing unemployment). But, of course, historians prefer to view the past from a distance, and only time will reveal his legacy.”

Even more telling of the ideological slant of the historians polled than George W. Bush now being two notches above Chester A. Arthur.

(I’m actually kind of serious. Arthur was a much better president than GWB.)

Put this story beside the one about the new poll numbers for 45, and I think you can bank on a late night tweetstorm coming out of Mar a Lago in the wee hours…

I suspect Obama suffered greatly because of Relationship with Congress, and Public Persuasion. Both are completely and entirely because of the ridiculous radicalization of the Republican party, and it really shouldnt be held against him.

It’s frankly surprising and impressive he did so well even after those categories are considered.

He’s below Garfield (served six months) and Harrison (one month). Heh.

Bush II should be near the bottom, no question. Maybe he moved up because of Trump.

Thanks Charliee. People need to be reminded of the massive damage Reagan did. Many people today have no idea.

Reagan was hands down the worst president of the 20th century. He started what we’re seeing the bitter end of with Trump.

This, exactly. I think the fact that he entered the list at 12 is incredibly impressive, considering his predecessor was at 36 in 2009. That’s telling right there.
