Discussion: Obama Pre-empts Trump: 'I Was Pretty Confident About Where I Was Born'

Mr Trump responds poorly when he does not receive the total attention of the media. He will not take this pre-emption well.

Way to ruffle the tiny-fingered vulgarian, Mr. President.

If I was one of the chefs at Trump Tower, Iā€™d make sure all of Donald Trumpā€™s meals were covered inā€¦ testosterone.

I am going to really really really miss that man.

He WAS there, of course. On the other hand, I donā€™t think he actually recalls the event.

Honestlyā€¦Jonathan Karl is a bottom feeder. WHY even ask that question? To start sht? Trump ran with the ā€˜birtherismā€™ to gain attention, any attention and now to garner MORE attention pretends he did a ā€˜serviceā€™ for the American public. Itā€™s ALL bs. Cā€™mon. Weā€™ve got STUFF to do people!

Honestly. I am not sure we will see a class act of his calibre againā€¦or Michelleā€™s either.

I will be happy to see Hillary sworn in, but I will be really, really, really sad to see the Obamas move outā€¦

I love that Obama can just ridicule the whole spectacle like the Road Runner passing through before Wile E. Coyote inevitably blows himself to smithereens. Itā€™s good to see some reporters call this what it is, but we all know the usual suspects will proclaim it another triumph of moderation and moving to the middle.

But itā€™s all part of the con. Keep your mark off balance, have your confederates say one thing and you deny you said it, and then deny the denial - rinse and repeat.
For me the biggest sham is Trumpā€™s campaign staffā€™s inconsistency, ineptitude, and lack of professionalism-but then thatā€™s part of his outsider charm to his deplorables.

Ughhā€¦Jonathon Karl. Throw him in with the basket of ā€˜deplorablesā€™ in the media, would ya?

Looks like Bannon/Ailes/Faux and the entire alt-right freakshow is set to coordinate the last couple months of Drumpfā€™s campaign for maximum derp and outrage in order to rile up their base, and get them out to the polls. Donā€™t be surprised folks if this shit, once again, doesnā€™t have legs in some corners of the bonkers rightwing fever swamps in this country to make that shit possible. Thatā€™s how this entire birtherism bullshit got to be so big, unwieldy and unable to be dislodged from the beginning. The media stoked it and went along with the bullshit until they helped to create the zeitgeist in some parts of the country where this shit pretty much lived on. And the media for years has pretty much acted like they were arbitrating some kind of actual debate while at the same time calling it nonsenseā€¦much like a bunch of rightwing Republican politicians did for years. They played along in some pretty sick ways at once questioning it and when being confronted, then playing dumb. Thatā€™s how we got the Tea Party in Congress. This is sick stuff, but it comes from complicity with white-owned privileged media elites being a party to it in some respects, or as far as Iā€™m concerned it would never have gotten to this point where a sitting Black President of the United States needed to answer Jonathon Karlā€™s derpy-ass question two months before an election to still address this blatantly racist bullshit.

President Obama on Friday briefly addressed Donald Trumpā€™s recent refusal to say that Obama was born in the United States, saying he wishes the presidential election would reflect ā€œmore serious issues.ā€

We all do. The trouble is that birtherism is about as high as Trump goes on the ā€œissuesā€ scale. Trump has no policies, only slogans. Anything that Trump promotes as a ā€œpolicyā€ is nothing more than a fantasy without foundation: 25 million jobs, build a wall that Mexico will pay for, deport 11 million people, ban Muslims from entering the country, stop street crime, and make America safe for Stormfront and the Ku Klux Klan.

First, a questioner at a New Hampshire rally for Donald Trump repeats the lie that President Barack Obama is a Muslim. Trump fails to correct him and faces a round of questions as to why he didnā€™t.

Now the birther question is relevant, because Trump wonā€™t stop engaging in these types of conspiracies. However its lunch time in my neck of the woods, lets see how can he refrain from being Donald Trump.

I prefer ā€œthe basket people.ā€

IS THERE A STORY BEHIND YOUR CAPITALIZATION STYLE? I am reminded of Margo form the book Paper Towns, who preferred a more random approach so that the first letters in words were not any better than those less-appreciated middle onesā€¦
