I love our President’s wry sense of humor!
That was excellent. Very funny yet appropriate for the event.
Not only are his jokes still good but his timing is still impeccable.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Drive safe people and enjoy the parade or ballgame, if that’s your thing.
Now…its the time of year to call the Butterball hotline, just to be sure I got this big tryptophan-inducing plucky fowl planned out properly…
Waiting for the drunken slurring Republican response.
p.s. Happy Thanksgiving all. Thanks for another year of “support”
Happy Thanksgiving TPM peeps.
The turkeys should have been named “Mild Turkey” McConnell and “Bourbon” Boehner.
How dare he take such a solemn and sacred tradition and turn into another opportunity to bash his enemies and to change the subject from Benghazi. I only hope that House Speaker Boehner has Jonathan Turley’s number on speed dial so he can tell him to amend their complaint and seek an immediate injunction against this outrage.
I love him period!! What a decent human being. This country does not deserve him.
Same to you

The first year or two of his time in office, President Obama said this is just so silly - we have such large problems to solve why am I spending precious time and attention on something so frivolous. I always felt the same. However as I’ve grown so ill from the toxicity of the political and media environments, I’m grateful to see the President more comfortable with this ceremony and getting to use the time and setting for well wishing everyone on this favorite holiday of mine but also provide some much needed laughter with his typically dry and cutting humor directed at the absurdity of the political and media narratives.
I love the Obamas. I’m going to do my best to savor these last two years. Best President in a generation.
The immigrations joke was a distraction. Don’t be fooled. This move is a tacit endorsement of same-sex turkey relationships.
Obama’s daughters are so cute. No wonder he seems proud as a peacock some days. Cute and healthy, that’s something to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.
Said Rep. Mo Brooks (Asshat-AL): “THOSE TURKEYS HAVE EBOLA! ISIS SLIPPED THEM THROUGH OUR UNPROTECTED BORDER WITH THE SECRET MOOSLIM SLEEPER AGENT’S HELP! IMPEEEEEEEECH! JAILLLLLLLLL TIMMMMMMMMME!”
They wouldn’t get saved …
Depending on how the Lions do tomorrow, I may end up watching the National Dog Show. Last year…the Lions ruled as they did the year before. We used to have a joke about watching them lose every year on Thanksgiving, no matter how they did the rest of the year. It was a Thanksgiving Day tradition. That’s because before 2013 they lost every Thanksgiving Day game for the previous 10 years. Have a good one Chammy. And for all you vegans out there…enjoy your Tofurkey.
Not just that. He is always the adult in the room. A very very classy guy.
It’s still silly and there are other times to have a chance for levity. But, he’s not going to make a big thing of ending the whole thing since now it’s something of a tradition. It’s not worth it to make waves over such a thing. So, he can make the best of it. Meanwhile, a few will think about animal rights or his questionable policy pardoning actual people. Most will ignore it or as you say chuckle or groan a bit.
Brilliant.
