That about sums it up. Putin is terrible as a president but he’s decent at bribing buffoons to screw with countries that get in the way of his beloved oil business.

Lots of under/unemployed very smart people in Russia, I’m sure the government there has no problem hiring hackers for cyber warfare.
Per capita GDP of Russia is less than Greece. Great at concentrating wealth and using it in asymmetric warfare, not so great at taking care of their own house.

This gives me another perspective on the President’s approach to the hacking. Perhaps we do have to be careful not to give Russia more credit than they deserve in terms of their larger impact. I am not excusing their hacking or denying its impact, but we may not want to make them appear mightier than they are.

It is absolutely necessary to obtain Trump’s TAX RETURNS. We can wallow in verbal statements
until the cows come home and we get nowhere. TAX RETURNS are hard evidence—they will give us
the information needed to show why TRUMP coddles the Russians. If our institutions and our laws and citizen
pressure and action are not sufficient to protect out Democracy from a Tyrant (Reich’s word) then what is the point?
