Discussion: Obama Offers 'Deepest Condolences' To Families of Slain Marines

Discussion for article #238508

The President looked so disgusted. I don’t blame him. Thank you NRA for making guns so available to people

What kind of an idiot sells a semi-automatic weapon to a guy named Mohammad youssaf Abdulazeez?

I’m not thinking that everyone with a name like that is a member of ISIS. But I’m thinking that ANYONE with a name like that who wants to purchase a semi-automatic high power rifle and has a name like that should never get his hands on such a weapon.

Come on, people, wake up!

I do not know how he came in possession of this weapon, but if he bought it legally, therein lies the rub. People who sell guns don’t’ care - they want to make that sale. I don’t think you can refuse to sell a gun to someone based on their name, can you?

Aurora CO movie theater shooter killed 20 and wounded 70 found guilty; jury didn’t accept the mental illness theory .

Wow. That’s a surprise, actually.

He wasn’t playing with a full deck, but the jury didn’t buy the testimony of the “experts” for the defense, apparently.

Two psychiatrists who testified for the defense said Mr. Holmes lacked the ability to tell right from wrong or act with intent — critical elements of sanity under Colorado law. Their testimony clashed with two court-appointed psychiatrists who said that while Mr. Holmes suffered a severe mental illness on a spectrum with schizophrenia, he was not legally insane when he walked into the theater.

Um, what?!!

Meanwhile, the Teabaggers are still whining that the president didn’t talk enough about an American woman killed by an illegal iimigrant.

What I wanna know is where is the Good Guy With a Gun that is supposed to stop the Bad Guy With the Gun and keep us safe. Where the hell IS that motherfucker?

To read the testimony of some of those wounded is heartbreaking. Life changed irrevocably for many of them including one young man, an athlete in training, who now is paralyzed from the neck down .

I’m sure. That kind of testimony dooms the defendant.

But to say he had severe mental issues, but not at the time of the killings? Was someone there with a device to measure his mental state?

I am going to guess that the four Marines spent a tour or two in harms way to earn a position as recruiters. After surviving foreign combat they were gunned down in the latest domestic mass shooting. My sympathy is with the Families Friends and Fellow Marines.

Who in their right mind would sell a weapon to someone called “commentperson”? Seriously, do we now sell guns based on race or religion or what somebody’s name is?? Do we sell only to white males named John Smith? How about a thorough background check? Wouldn’t that be more practical?

What commentperson posted is racist. To sell or not sell a gun based on someone’s name? Like that’s a valid reason? I think not. Why not institute a far better and more thorough background check. Or ban guns for civilians…after all the 2nd amendment does mention a well regulated militia being necessary to a free state so the framers seem to be saying guns are for the military and not so much for civilians.

Gun nuts and the racist Teabaggers always ignore the “well-regulated” part of the 2nd Amendment. Always. Which shows that they have never read it. They just regurgitate what others tell them to say/think per the NRA.

2nd Amendment…> the right of the people to keep and bear Arms…

The right is of The People!

Not the military, not the militia but the people.

The people as in “We The People” which is the first sentence of the US Constitution.

“We The People” is neither the military nor the militia which, btw, were separate entities at the times of the framers as they are today.

Will Obama ever “get it”???

We see your post, but you’re unarmed in a derp-free zone.

The right is not absolute, Jethro. The SCOTUS precedent for the past 250 years has made it abundantly clear that reasonable limitations, regulations, procedures, etc., are all perfectly constitutional. Howling your irrational nonsense in bold will not change that.
