Discussion: Obama Meets W<span style="line-height: 1em;">ith King Salman In Saudi Arabia

I am disappointed with President Obama’s pandering.

Probably telling him all the codes for cash…traitor!

We often have to interact with governments that do not reflect our nations values, be it in human rights, economics, or military policy. That’s not pandering. It’s diplomacy.

Are you fucking serious? Do you understand what is happening in the world these days.

Under the broiling Arabian sun, Obama grilled Salman over the Saudis´ aggression in Yemen, but reassured him that US support was baked in. It was a tour de force of ra-poach-ment.

Gee Carlos I am sure it must be a difficult day for you today after Bernie’s stunning loss yesterday, but now to jump on Obama’s ass? Are you just venting, perhaps?

broiling…Salman (Salmon)…baked … ra-poach-ment (rapproachment)

I should have thought that I was being obvious enough.

But thanks for gratuitously trying to rub in Sanders´ loss - extra points for that!

Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer. This is how things work.

I think I stay informed. We are deluding ourselves about the Saudis. They are a nasty, barbaric and tribal society that has beheaded more people in the public square than their wahabbi friends at ISIS.

No need to visit. The custodian of the prophets can take the time to visit if it is that important.

It will be decades before we know why the President is really there.

We can be sure that it wasn’t for frivolous reasons. The conference is probably a big part of it, but stops in Germany and England suggest a bigger agenda.

Good to see someone in government doing his job.

@fiftygigs: I hope you are right. Right now it looks like the wrong thing to do. I do hope that the President drops his opposition to the 9-11 bill after the visit.
