Discussion: Obama Knocks Warren On Trade: She Is 'A<span class="s1"> Politician Like Everybody Else'

Discussion for article #236173

Except Obama, of course.

Every other politician panders to their base. Obama lets the GOP base decide what he does and doesn’t do.

Now, thems fightin’ words…Liz is anything BUT an ordinary politician…She is not corrupt and taking bribes like the gop, and some Democrats…but PBO and I really, really differ on Professor Senator Warren…Did Michelle crank one upside his head last week? what the fudge happened to him? Paying back a debt to his financial backers would be ahhh, unsightly and ugly? And trying to cover his ass with the Good Senator from MA…? Ummm, what is in this deal that is doing this to him?

So let’s have other Congress people chime in since they are the only people who can view it (with restrictions of course). Let’s debate this in Congress, in the open and prove to each other what is really in the bill.

Yeah, she’s a politician, all right. Just like you. Too bad her constituents are distinct from yours when it comes to trade deals, financial institutions, and the like.

You got yours, baby doll. He’s in the White House. Farting glitter on behalf of the oligarchs, and screwing the worker while he makes grandiose statements about wearing comfortable shoes and walking the picket line.

Amen.

Except Warren hasn’t sold her soul out. She’s the dangerous kind who believes in what she’s doing.

Can’t we look at the text of the treaty to see if Warren’s claims have merit? That might be more useful than political chicken.

ANd, Mr. President – if you wonder why the progressives are so disappointed in you, this might be part of it.

This is how mainstream journalism works: rather than digging into real issues of the TPP, as in why is is secret. Bai asks is this “personal.” Typical media: it would rather focus on issues of personalities rather than substance.

He’s just two years from going full corporate courtesan. $500,000 speeches. $10,000,000 checks for his soon to be massive new “charity.”

By the time “we” look at the treaty, it will be all or nothing, no amendments. Based on a thoroughly consistent history with these trade deals, some (me included) are not of a mind to wait to see whether this particular one is infused with the benevolence of the noblesse oblige just because someone (anyone, Obama included) says so.

I like you Mr. President, but you’re picking on my girl! Watch yourself, Mister!

Dear big brother…the above comment was said in jest. Please don’t send people to my home.

How could she be so wrong? Really President Obama, for the last decade she has been fighting the good fight for the middle class - always coming out slugging! Your record for the last 6 1/2 years - not so good.
I will put my trust in a politician that says what she means and means what she says. She may be a politician - but funny enough - HER I trust - YOU not so much!

Jeez. Obama is completely off-track here.

Bernie Sanders is running for president, so he must be ignored.

“On this one, though, her arguments don’t stand the test of fact and scrutiny.”

What scrutiny? Have you and your colleagues taken a good thorough look at NAFTA and the impacts to American jobs (and the Mexican rural economy).

She’s a politician who actually looks out for the consumer and middle class. Thanks for clarifying what sets her apart for the rest of you, Mr. President. It’s called being accountable to the people who voted for you instead of you making excuses for unfair trade deals.
