Discussion for article #235090
These âprayer breakfastsâ are not something a POTUS should be engaging in. Although, by calling out these Cafeteria Christians on their hypocritical bullshit, he has done something useful.
Well, it is bullshit but there is no way to stop attending but I love that he spoke out/
The man is pure class
This great President displays the patience of Job in the face of willful, ignorant vexation from proven failures and shouldnât lower himself or the office with more than the graceful pokes he occasionally gives. I remain surprised at the lack of full-throated, joyful and acerbic opposition from our other âleadersââŚthe church-like quiet cannot all be the fault of bone lazy, corrupt media.
Amen to that. I Love, love, love this man
Another Prayer BreakfastâŚSeems like they have these every other week in DC now. Almost as often as some conservative confab. I really hate the blurring of boundaries between our secular government and religion on this regular basis. Wish theyâd put a stop to this.
If he didnât murder people on just a hunch or spy on us 24/7, maybe. I have no respect for him.
Obama IS being a bit hypocritical in calling out Cafeteria Christians while going AGAINST the teachings of Jesus Christ as stated in Matthew 6:5-8, which condemns public prayerâŚ
Why never a Prayer 2nd Breakfast or Prayer Elevensies? Iâm guessing most attendees indulge?
HahaâŚhe just looooooooves to drive them fucking crazyâŚ
They asked Treebeard to speak at a Prayer Elevensies once and it lasted about three months.
LOL! Orc Senator McCain was rivited, though, at the breakneck pace. And, several Hobbits finally left still feeling a bit famished.
I think you misread that a bit. Itâs not an admonishment not to pray publicly or with others. Those passages are speaking also and more to whatâs in the hearts of those who do itâŚtheir intentâŚnot just the mere act of praying publicly or with others. Iâm no holy roller, but the point is that God will know if youâre false and putting on a show, versus sincere in your devotion and faith.
âObama faced a barrage of criticism from the right earlier this year for his comments about Christianity at the National Prayer Breakfast. Critics berated him for stating that Christians shouldnât get on their âhigh horseâ about religious barbarism, given the Crusades and Christian backing for slavery and Jim Crow laws.â
Yeah the truth makes their heads explode. Too bad they donât explode while they have them up their arses.
Now if, instead, he had told a story of child rape, murder and castration, he would be hailed as a conservative hero.
yeah, but unfortunately, thereâs no way theyâre going to end. otoh, i love that heâs now trolling everyone⌠cue the outrage from those poor, beleaguered christians who are under direct attack by this kenyanmuslimcommieâŚ
That is a huge downside to this administration.
"I have to say that sometimes when I listen to less-than-loving expressions by Christians I get concerned.â
Iâd get concerned too by the fact that over 60% of white Evangelicals endorse the use of torture. Fucking hypocrites each and every one of them.
What I learned in my RC catechism class is coming back to me and I recall that each day of the week following Easter Sunday is significant and can be used to promote Christianity in any way possible.
I think youâre adding your own interpretation to the scriptureâwhich is your right, of course. But Jesus (if he existed) is alleged to have been very emphatic that you should pray in private:
ââŚwhen thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.â
