It is a mistake to focus jus on Trump. Cruz has a real shot and his “ideas” are derived from real ignorance of the world. Economic quackery like the gold standard. Low level understanding of national security and military matters. His national security team is a horror show. His proposal to use the power of the state to investigate undesirable organization like Planned Parenthood. His tax cut plan will blow a hole in the deficits (notice none of these guys has a spend plan, just tax cuts). The list goes on. Cruz is a dangerous theocratic fanatic who is trying to hide his true thoughts.
So Trump wants to resort to classic first class thuggery as President of the United States, in order to force Mexico to pay for the wall. And he believes that Mexico and the rest of the world will get on their knees and bow down to him. Obama could not have said it better - Good luck with that…
I saw the press conference on TV. He tore Trumps stupid idea about remittances to shreds in about 90 seconds. It was hilarious.
People expect the president of the United States and the elected officials in this country to treat these problems seriously, to put forward policies that have been examined, analyzed, are effective, where unintended consequences are taken into account.
