Discussion: Obama Gets Testy With Reporters

Discussion for article #242894

It sounds to me like he gets rightly frustrated about stupid journalists who have some serious issue with listening comprehension. That’s not the same thing as “loses his cool.”

“What I’m not interested in doing is posing or pursuing some notion of American leadership or America winning or whatever other slogans they come up with that has no relationship to what is actually going to work to protect the American people and to protect people in the region who are getting killed and to protect our allies in people like France,” Obama said. “I’m too busy for that.”

Like saying Radical Islam, which apparently has become the magic words to stop ISIS/ISIL.

The President doesn’t really lose his cool (and by the time Ron Allen asked that loaded question the President would have been justified is uttering some hot words). I am a pacifist and I was ready to throw something at the TV. Is there anyone left in the US press with integrity or credibility or higher-level thinking???

Allen asked: “I think a lot of people around the world and in America are concerned because, given the strategy that you are pursuing and it’s been more than a year now, ISIS’ capability seems to be expanding. Were you aware that they had the capability of pulling off the kind of attack that they did in Paris? Are you concerned and do you think they have that same capability to strike in the United States? And do you think that given all you’ve learned about Isis over the past year or so and given all the criticism about your underestimating them, do you think you really understand this enemy well enough to defeat them and to protect the homeland?”

fortunately for him, he got the president.

if he got Josh Earnest, that room would be reminded that there is a request to amend the '01 AUMF that’s still sitting on Paul Ryan’s table. Guess why its still there and not up for a vote…

Every time I hear some slobbering twit say “homeland” to refer to our country, I want to vomit blood.

The press and the Republicans assume the attack on Paris is proof ISIS is winning, but what if the ISIS attacks are part of a game change strategy necessitated by the ISIS leadership realizing that they are losing?

“If folks want to pop off, present a plan. I’m not interested in posing.” - Pres. Barack Obama -

And THAT is why he’s going down as one of the Top Three presidents of all time.

The President Loses His Cool…

TPM is well on its way to tabloid status.

Let me see if I can rephrase Allen’s questions here.

"Many people are concerned because the U.S. lacks total control of the world. Did you know bad people could travel and do bad things in more than one place? Are you concerned they might do bad things in our place? If you thought things were one way and they changed, are you capable of thinking things are another way? Can you keep bad things from ever happening again?

“Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.”
Tried it. Doesn’t work either.

Seriously, it’s like having to reprimand a classroom full of kindergarteners who refuse to accept nap time under any circumstances.

I watched the press conference, and I have of course seen him at others, and what I wish he just sounded more confident in what he is saying Take a look at how presidents like FDR (whose press conferences were always off the record), Reagan (who always sounded good, no matter what nonsense he was saying) or even Nixon (pre-watergate) or Johnson spoke. The best in the press conference milieu was Kennedy— you could not doubt that he was the smartest guy in the room. Obama always sounds hesitant, and he appeals to reason. At times, you have to appeal to emotion and work to instill confidence. especially when people are scared, and that can be done without lying or bombast. Clinton did it— even BHO admitted Clinton should be in charge of explaining stuff.(I cannot imagine that Obama could have instilled as much confidence as Kennedy did when he announced the Cuban missile crises.) It is amazing to me that after 8 years he has not learned how to do that.

It would’ve been a golden opportunity to point out how easy it is to get the guns the terrorists used, right here in the USA.

Fricking idiot Obama, all he has to do is Google “Decimation-R-Us Emporium” and the helpful sales staff will take it from there and cater everything needed to take those bastards out.

The key to making it work is saying it three times in a row, just like “Bloody Mary”.

"Reporters ask same question over and over - Obama not fooled."

…AND Gets Testy!

TPM, that was a suck ass headline if I ever saw one. It got clicks though, but so would T&A shots. On the balance, I’d prefer the T&A over the Fox style headlines.
