“God works in mysterious ways.” Indeed.

Not a bad eulogy considering he’s a secret muslim, Kenyan usurper, tyrant guy.

Barack Hussein Obama representes the United States of America. This great Man speaks for us, At times we disagree with politics and policy… welcome to Democracy.
In matters of morality amongst Americans, this Man speaks for me. I am grateful. This needs to be acknowledged, in a day of mourning for this Nation, his words comfort.

Was Blind but now I see… What a great day for our country when racists can say that. Thanks Mr. President. Once again you have shown us that HOPE is not dead.

My thoughts are with the families of the nine lives taken by hate.

From celebrating the expansion of civil rights to recognizing our ongoing struggle against oppression and violence…

What a uniquely American day. Perhaps the quintessential day of the decade.

50 years from now when we get a 21st-century version of ‘Mad Men,’ this day will make for one heck of a very special episode.

We’re only halfway into it, but that just might be true, at least with respect to US domestic politics.

How long will it take the morons on Fox & Friends, etc., to attack the President for being “divisive,” I wonder.

Of course! I didn’t mean to be so Amerocentric.

Today, I am struck that he’s certainly the only president in my lifetime with such kindness of heart. I sense that he conceals his heart much of the time, knowing his opponents would call him soft or weak. He is most certainly not soft and definitely not weak, but there is truly a kindness of spirit in him that we may not see in another president for many, many years.

I’ve been waiting for the day he would use his god given talents and speak out on the moral failures of our nation like he did just now.

Keep it up!

Greatest President in my lifetime, that’s for sure. Let’s hope HRC rises to the occasion, as well.

Probably never - although I hope someone can come close

I honestly believe that in the last few months, unburdened by the need to face another election (either his own, or those of his party in the midterms), the president really is feeling free to speak as he would want to.

“[A] long history of bombs, and arsons, and shots fired at these churches; not random, but as a means of control, a way to terrorize and oppress….”

Or, as the GOP base likes to call it, “the good old days”.

And before you dismiss that as snark, I still remember my preschool teacher – Mrs. Guinnup, a recent transplant from South Carolina – smiling from ear to ear the morning after Dr. King was murdered, and telling a classroom full of four-year-olds (!) what a great day it was, and how that “uppity nggr” finally got what he had coming. My mother was floored, but Mrs. Guinnup kept her job teaching at that same Midwestern school for many, many years after.

(Ira’s mom, eight years my junior, finds it hard to believe that “civil” society could be so tolerant of such bigotry. I suppose a lot of younger folks share her skepticism. Kids today….)

Even the Teabaggers realize when this president is in front of a lectern, their asses are in deep deep peril of getting kicked,
