I was always impressed with Bill Clinton’s ability to take a question, think for a few moments, like literally six seconds, and then deliver an answer in a paragraph a top-level editor could not improve on for clarity and concision. But Obama can do so much more than that, it’s amazing. If you want to read some good appreciations of his skill, James Fallows, who once worked as a White House speechwriter, has good insights into his particular techniques. He really is a very, very rare talent.

I love that he gently ridicules them. Most of us do far more anger in ours, but he is almost calming.
And calm is what we need these days with those evil grumpy cats around.

I hope Joe Biden has a prominent role in the campaign. He brings the optimism and a working class/middle class sensibility to it. If he makes an occasional gaffe it’s no big deal when he’s not actually running.

True, and let’s be honest, he’s going to need above and beyond the normal Secret Service detail given to former presidents. Michelle and the girls are going to need it too. What a sad, depressing thought.
