The even better thing about Beto: He did it all without billionaire or Wall Street money…
Please! Run, Beto, Run!
Obama Compares Beto To Himself, Calls Him An ‘Impressive Young Man’
Well, sure, but is he “articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy”?
Beto’s future is unlimited.
First thing I thought when I heard Beto make an extended argument. He seems to be able to make everyone feel that at least he hears them, understands what they’re saying and why. Really persuasive if you can do that–it gets people to stop and listen themselves.
I listened to half of that podcast interview yesterday and will finish it up today. It is so refreshing to listen to a calm, rational, and brilliant and coherent President. Although I posted a link to the interview yesterday, I will happily share it with you if you DM me. kat
“He’s articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” Obama continued…
Today’s headline at the SF Chron makes me happy
Bay Area Democrats look to be major players in next year’s House
Beginning with Pelosi, continuing with Lee, Lofgren, Eshoo, Spier and Khanna.
After 4 years of Trump, Beto will be like Joy Harmon washing that 41 De Soto and we’re like the chain gang watching already.
This is a huge boost to Beto. He does remind me of a young Barack Obama and that is a good thing. Go, Beto, Go. He appears to be just what we need right now.
Open mouth, insert foot Joe. He’s lucky President Obama chose him.
His enthusiasm is such he seems to be bouncing a little as he speaks. It’s hard to understand why anyone would prefer his opponent who really is nothing more than an empty suit, hating trump until he needed him.
Just what we need: Another politically inexperienced newcomer for the Republicans to eat for lunch, like they did to the Democrats after Obama was in selected in 2008.
Maybe when Beto can win something more than a blue Texas Congressional district, and you know, actually do something besides lose to Ted Cruz, he should be considered.
Letter after his name, I guess. I was talking to a young coworker about the candidates many election cycles ago and realized with a start that she had a system: She voted for the most conservative candidate period. Explains a repellent toad like Steve King and a lot of other empty suits.
He had me after that exchange with the Colin Kapernick-questioning individual at the town hall. He was able to place Kapernick’s gesture in the context of the long history of peaceful protest, e.g. MLK’s movement, and then quote Taylor Branch, an actual serious historian known for his scholarship on the Civil Rights movement. I had the same shock of recognition, “this is my guy,” moment when I read Obama’s book, “Dreams from My Father.”
Lot of that out here in Red Oregon, too. We had a wonderful challenger to Greg Walden this time, someone who had served in a wide variety of public service jobs, was committed to health care for all and tried to meet and talk with everyone in this far-flung district, which tends to be poor and undereducated and underserved. They still voted for Walden 2-1, even though he has gone full-on Trump in all respects. Just sad.
“The reason I was able to make a connection with a sizable portion of the country was because people had a sense that I said what I meant,”
I first heard Obama give a speech in Daley Plaza on a snowy day in Chicago 2003. It was at a rally held in opposition to the impending invasion of Iraq. At the time he was an Il State Senator and a professor at the University of Chicago. There were many speakers that day, most of them much better known than Obama, but he stood out. His talent was strikingly apparent. When he concluded his short speech my wife and I both, looked at each other and simultaneously said, “This guy belongs in the Oval Office.”
Please run for Cornyn’s seat, Beto. And win. As senator, you will be a big help to President Hickenlooper.
