Discussion: Obama Asks Congress For War Powers To Fight The 'Grave Threat' Of ISIL

Discussion for article #233133

“Obama would limit authorization to three years, with no restriction where U.S. forces could pursue the threat.”

Anything else Mr. President?

It will be interesting to see how the debate proceeds in Congress.

How is ISIL a threat to the “homeland” beyond being a terrorist organization/state? Unless they manage to aquire ICBMs they aren’t coming here. Sure, they probably have sympathizers here but how is that substatially different from other terrorist threats? Or, is saying that de riguer for any president when trying to get an AUMF?

As expected, here comes “boots on the ground”,.

American’s boots on the ground, that is.

“This weak-kneed dictator is going in with no plan, one that is too restrictive. He’s projecting an end date … which we oppose because it’s telling our enemies how long to stay low. If he takes an open-ended approach, we will oppose that as a drain on the Treasury. Moreover, this half-wit half-breed’s dabbling in dangerous isolationism …and is going to get our boys effin’ killed! … Every GOP official in this Congress”

Maybe I should get an online media director gig with one of these newbies
